Charleston Southern
E-Dome

Edit: NV beat me to it, though l like how he listed the time. :fistbump:
They look pretty bad on paper, at least based on last year. They did win their first game by 40 and we are coming in with our dicks inverted from getting them kicked in. Hopefully no hangover because the gimmies are all must wins this year.

You're right of course lagator. It's just one game (who the hell scheduled FSU as our first game?)
It's just that I've never seen a team start by ignoring the veterans so much.??

I admit I did not see the entire game as I was watching other "real" teams and also paying attention to the political votes. Be that as it may, it is only the first game and most people on here who chat bball know how I feel about Mike. I think Mike is a good guy whose guys play hard for him but is a terrible half court offensive coach, not a great defensive coach and team is not overly sound fundamentally. But what I saw was that Allen and Stone are the exact same player they have been for years. Stone thinks he is a bomber and he is not. Allen only gets noticed when he scores and he needs help scoring, which Mike can't seem to do. When Allen does not score he hurts the team. He is not a good ball handler or passer and only a marginal defender. It appeared that the shot selection was again poor, regardless of make or miss. which is a trait of Mike's teams. There was ZERO attempt at low post offense. I know the CLOWNS are a big team, but we have a wide body guy who can create space. I never once saw them try to feed him in the low post It does appear that we have more of a natural PG this year.. one that tries to get the team into a flow and does not bounce a hole into the floor before jacking up a shot. I hope it gets better, but Mike has to show me some different stuff X's and O's wise before I consider him anything but a terrible coach.

Very nice analysis, though I might call your "real" teams one year rental teams or as I have previously called them one sport athletic programs.

Of no surprise to anyone I have a slightly different take on the game yesterday. My greatest concern is the lack of a PG. Nembhard could not stay in front of his guy. He had 4 turnovers and kept giving the ball to Hayes in turnover positions. He drove but time after time was looking to pass the ball to guys like Hayes rather than to Allen or Hudson at the arc for the open three. He has an ugly shot that happened to go in yesterday.

Other than that I agree UF's guys are who they are. I do view Stone as more of a stretch 4 than you do. He hit a good percentage from the arc last season. Hayes is limited, but I think the effects of Pinkins may be showing in Hayes grabbing 6 rebounds in 18 minutes and Stone grabbing 8 rebounds.

Allen and Hudson had bad nights, but they also did not often receive the ball in good shooting positions. Hudson of course can/will not guard much and why he was often on FSU's best outside shooter is beyond me.

Coaching is more than Xes and Os. White has shown an improvement in recruiting which is part of coaching. White can grow as a X and 0 and in game coach. He did after a mis-step hire a big man coach this past off season. Still I do not disagree with your current analysis.
