Williston Gator posted something about this in October. GCMB on the frontlines of the news again.

The winner here is Dabo Swinney. The guy called this on the recruiting trail last year and landed said recruit as a result. Took some heat for it too. He has instant credibility now and can pretty much say anything he wants and be taken seriously.

As J said, I respect what he can do and did for us, but the drama is that of a teenage girl. The whole thing is just so obvious and cliched.

Too bad it didn't happen last year, we would have a 5* OT on our roster right now.

We need to get Mark Pantoni. If you haven't heard of him do a google search. He's a UF grad and in charge of the Ohio State recruiting machine. He'd be a HOMERUN hire and we should write a blank check to get him (seriously, he's making $160K or so at Ohio State - we should offer him a guaranteed 5 year $250K/year contract).

He’s enough of an ego maniac to take the Packers job in an attempt to show everyone that he’s the second coming of Vince Lombardi. “F*** this cyst, they’ll name a trophy after me.”

So he finishes 24-1 against UGA, FSU, UT, and Michigan. That's solid. The only blemish was that 2007 "dance on the field" game by UGA.

Covering up for a wife beater, putting Percy Harvin in a boot (when his foot is fine, he just failed too many consecutive drug tests), and of course introducing the world to Aaron Hernandez. Plenty of blemishes if you look a little outside the lines, or care. Just saying, not a wonderful human being.

No, he'll be back after a year or two.
Then his reasoning for quitting for health reasons is bullschit. He's supposedly had this adenoid cyst since 1998, surgery in 2014 and yet he is still affected by the cyst. If the cyst hasn't gone away or improved since surgery, than what do you expect will change in two years? He only comes back to HC if the ND job opens up, that's it.

The pattern with Meyer is clear; things start to go south, claim health reasons and that he needs to spend time with family. These are excuses for lack of producing NC's (which is the yearly expectation at OSU and was at Florida at the time) and his way to deflect blame. The guy is a genius when things are going right, but a complete coward when cracks begin to show in the foundation. This is why so many of us have an issue with the way he operates.

Cue the I'm "jilted, drunk, left at the alter, embedded with ISIS, etc..." response.

What a terrible look for OSU, you stood by him and took that massive black eye only to miss the playoffs and him retire at the end of the year anyways. If they had spine they would have fired him which would have earned them praise and someone else could have led them to missing the playoffs.

Feels just like 09. I’m sure he told them early this season this would be his last year and that’s why the suspension and not the firing.
Win-win for both parties involved.

Yes, they had an awful and embarrassing season, no doubt. The bastard will probably even end it with a garbage win in the Rose Bowl. Hideous.

If there are some serious health issues, I hope the best for him and that it is a good outcome.

With that said, this is the second time that "his health" has been the issue. Drama, player issues, coaching staff issues, and did I mention Drama seem to be Urb's downfall to a very successful career. You could call it making a deal with the Devil, Hired Gun, etc. But the fact for me is that it is a credibility issue. After the wife beating stuff went on I figured that this could be it. Also, just feel he uses health issue to try and mask the issues and unknown issues that have happened or will happen. You know UM has his eye on his program, no doubt. I still think he knew if not all, almost all the issues that were happening at UF, including Hernandez. 2 years he's back in coaching. Brian Kelly will get smoked in the playoffs, have a mediocre or bad 2019, the cyst will get removed or healed, and then UM will be in charge of the Irish.

So which school does he return with in 2020 after he’s “figured out” his “health problems?”
Meyer only moves up. Not down, not sideways, only up. And up for him at this point is only one destination, Notre Dame.

Timing is actually almost spot on. Kelly's contract runs through 2021. The pressure on him to produce Final Four appearances with Meyer lurking in the TV booth will be almost unbearable. By then they ought to have a cure for terminal brain cysts.

The priests and nuns in South Bend will be cringing, but I'm pretty sure you can book it.

He knows how to play up those rivalry games and get his kids to really come to play in those games.
