Mixed feelings but mostly I think this is good for the Gator's.
There's no apostrophe in Gators. Imagine that apostrophe on the helmet script - we'd be laughed out of college football.

What a head case. Pun intended.

BTW, has anyone mentioned just what a terrible analyst he was at ESPN? Dull, lifeless and not that insightful.

Myer's made to do one thing, coach football. Not be the social worker he always claimed to be, not be the pious Catholic he claimed to be, not be the beacon of righteousness he claimed to be, not be the engaged and doting father he claimed to be and the guiding light of how men should treat women that he claimed to be. He failed miserably at all those things. Nope, he's made to do one thing and he does that with laser focus. It'll be interesting to see hope he copes without all the stress.
I've always found the Meyer stress excuse amusing. Not you, divits, but the prevailing sentiment about it being about stress. Coaching big-time college football is stressful, period. What Meyer runs away from is criticism and loss of control. At Florida it was the growing criticism over how he managed team discipline, then the Bama loss in the SECCG.

At Ohio State, it's been losing the gimme game and then being thoroughly outed for allowing Zach Smith to be Zach Smith under his obvious watch, only to be publicly humiliated for lying on top of it.

Brett McMurphy and the ensuing lack of control destroyed Meyer, not stress or a brain cyst. I called it in August. I knew he wouldn't last.

I do think this is it for him. I don't think he comes back. Shelley was crying because he's out. Done. Finito.

It wouldn't surprise me to hear some type of announcement of a serious illness.

Regarding Kelly at ND - he only has a .585 winning percentage, even with the recent success. His ND teams have finished a season ranked only half of his tenure there.

To get Urban, I'd see a "mutual agreement to part ways" in favor of a 82-9 coach.

How many times did Meyer come out unsolicited before or after the suspension trying to seize control of the media narrative over the Zach Smith debacle? Several times. Once again trying to regain control of his image. It made him look desperate and almost pathetic.

This is not a man who takes kindly to public humiliation. It eats him up.

Maybe he can come back and coach UCF...help them win another 5 "National Championships".

Let me be the first to throw out the ridiculous what-if question.

What if Mullen bombed over the next two to three seasons?

What if Meyer discovered Extra Strength Tylenol?

What if Bernie Machen decided to accept the emeritus AD position?

What if you were asked to hold your nose and open your heart just one more time?

Would you accept Urbie as Champion again?

This would be the scene at the Gainesville Airport upon Urb's arrival:

He'd get a mixed reaction, but I guarantee the buzz would be over the top. I can count the number of UF coaches with two titles over three seasons on one upward thumb.

So he finishes 24-1 against UGA, FSU, UT, and Michigan. That's solid. The only blemish was that 2007 "dance on the field" game by UGA.

If we're going to include Florida's top 3 rivals, we also have to include Ohio State's top 3: Michigan, Michigan State, and Penn State. Meyer's record against PSU and MSU were also pretty solid, but it makes that number look a bit different.

And to be clear: he still has a fantastic record in rivalry games, no question.

Urban is the Kardashian of college football. Flashy with a lot of drama but in the end, not worth a whole lot.

I don't think any OSU fans will agree his worth was lacking and, results wise, neither should we. He is definitely a mixed bag with some serious situational morality issues and he is definitely a lightning rod for drama. His worth as a football coach, however, is not really debatable given that he has the highest winning percentage (.851) of any Div 1 coach in the modern era to go with 3 National Championships, numerous conference championships, and a stellar record against all the major rivals at any school where he coached. That's why he is such a flash point for controversy because he wins first and foremost so every school where he coaches has to deal with the dilemma of maintaining a happy fan base while also dealing with all of the fallout from the off the field drama that seems inevitably to surround him, his coaches and/or his players everywhere he goes.

Flashy? yes! Lots of drama? Most certainly! Worth? Extremely high on the field which, let's face it, is all that most fans really care about regardless of the drama that ultimately surrounds the program.

He was 3-3 vs Alabama. Was he winless vs Clemp-son? Can't remember.
