Look, if they want to get to the party, they need to kick down the door. Nobody is going to invite them. I hate FSU more than any team in the country, but back when they were building their program, they played anyone, anywhere. They had one season where they played 5 straight road games against Nebraska, Ohio State, Notre Dame, Pitt and LSU. Playing 1 or 2 games a year against lower division teams from power 5 conferences won't get the job done. They need go beat some blue bloods on the road or shut the hell up.
Nailed it.

Hardly worth posting, but Bowden had nothing to do with that. Clay Stapleton scheduled those toughies before Bowden was at FSU.

Nulls were close to dropping football because of Larry Jones followed by Daryl “press box coach” Mudra and almost bankrupt due to averaging 18,000 or less for about 6 years in a row and being an independent. Clay scheduled those games strictly for the paydays to try to save the program.....they struck gold with Bowden and we got the equivalent of the death penalty with Pell after the Dickey fiasco. ....lucky bastids....

I didn’t know that Lagoon. Thanks for setting us straight.

What they should do is 1-1-1. One home/away/neutral site

I don't get this "should." The Gators play one of the toughest strength of schedules every year. UCF plays nothing but cupcakes and can't get into the CFP despite beating all the cupcakes. Who needs this game more? If UCF wants to be a major football power it needs to start beating good teams. If they want to get into a Power 5 conference they need to start beating good teams. I think there are more than 25 teams in the country that would be undefeated playing UCF's schedule. I don't' think I would even rank them in the top 25.

Echoing others’ sentiments, UCF doesn’t deserve squat. They think they’re in a position to make demands when they haven’t played anybody of consequence? What a joke! Not to mention they pssed out on the game against us a decade or so ago. If they really wanted to build their program, they should have not only played us as scheduled but they should have gone on the road and played any major program (I.e.-FSU, So. Cal, OSU, Michigan, Bama, Texas, Miami, etc.) that they could. The Power 6 narrative is also funny. I hope LSU thumps these guys 56-0...or more.

Just because you say you're a powerhouse program doesnt make it so. It really annoys me with their crap. Like a they live in some alternate reality.

Its trying to schedule them while protecting their interests. None of these power 5 schools want to truly do a home and home. It's what Boise faced in the early 2000s. UCF would've been the hardest game on our schedule this year outside of UGA.

You guys are laughable. You blame ucf for their schedule then they try to fix it while also protecting their interests you blame them saying them again. I hope they blow the doors off LSU.
wrong, if they "tried to fix their schedule" theyd be fine with a 2 for 1. Heck, theyd jump at the chance. Their response when offered that is proof they arent trying to "fix" anything, and only interested in generating publicity in any way OTHER than actually earning it on the field.

I guess since halfassu is such hot trash, youve jumped on the middle florida bandwagon. Good luck with that.

What interests? Trying to claim they’re a big boy when they still wear Mickey Mouse pajamas?
Why would any P5 travel there for a $100 payday when you can schedule any of their conference mates as a home game only and make the millions that provides? Makes ZERO business sense and anyone with a brain understands that.

Which is why the little guys are more than willing to travel to build the program. This isn't a mystery. Their AD knows exactly what he's doing; he's playing the game, but it's not going to work for him.

They don't make as much $ doing that. I see you have nothing but silly ad hominem attacks which shows me your level of critical thinking is low. UCF has beaten 4 ranked teams in the last 2 years. What the Go5 should have is their own playoff, clearly the power 5 model is only for the power 5.

oh, so you admit, it's just about money, not competition. Nice to see you admit my point all along. If they wanted a real shot they'd accept the offers and play the bigs away, but they don't bc all they are really after is money and pub so they won't.

PS, it's not adhominen. You're a nole, and have nothing to cheer for. Sorry.

They should feel lucky we're willing to play them at all. Take the carrot and run with it instead of whining that you "deserve better."
