I was playing with grandkids and missed the game. Heard the 2nd half on the radio coming home. Mick Hubert was talking about the defensive effort, but missed free throws and poor shooting did them in again. Nembhard is our best player but there's something wrong with the team. Plenty of depth and talent, just not getting the execution and the lack of an inside presence on offense has hurt UF for years.

The coaching that these Gators need should be occurring & recurring in the practices. They should be performing offensive plays with "fallback" schemes when those plays don't develop. Practice is for rehearsing stuff 'til it's perfected. Practice higher speed passes. Do more hustling movement to gain clearance, to gain time to get set for a solid shot. Don't practice going slow ! IDK, of course, but we can't go on this way. It's White's to make right.

Each player needs that 90% FT coach's video on hitting free throws : watch it at practice's end Monday & go shoot on your own time ... then watch it after practice Tues, Weds, Thurs, etc. Watch, studying his technique & go out to shoot that way. Plus, get Canyon Barry to teach the underhand FT. Some gotta improve that way.

We seem to have young players who can push the action better than the old guys. Then practice that way.
Stokes isn't in playing shape or experience shape, so play him into effectiveness. We gotta have inside big men.
Stokes, Bassett, Stone should be able to crash the rim being 6'8+ 250 lbs.

We’ve shot like crap most the year. I don’t think it’s a fluke at this point, our offense does not create good looks at all.

This hits on my biggest complaint about White. When your team isn’t shooting well it’s YOUR JOB to create better looks. If you’re shooting 25% from 3 it’s time to run some sets to get layups or mid range jumpers. Everybody talks about it, nothing changes. I’ve stopped watching because if I want to watch undisciplined street ball, I’ll go down to the local red leagues.

White called that as well
K. Allen needs to drain that shot. He told coach this way his day to break out of his slump. Coach trusted in his senior to make the play. It was actually a fine shot, just didn't go in. Kevaughn knew exactly where he wanted to shoot it from. You kill the clock, dribble to one of your favorite spots, drain the triple.

We a played a top 10 team pretty tough today. We defended and competed pretty well. We didn't make the effort plays that they did imo. Looks like we're improving. I think we can be a tournament team.

We only had 7 assists for the entire game. That's pathetic and shows little ball movement and a lot of dribbling & one on one play. Add to that 25% shooting 3's, 36^ overall shooting, plus only 58% in FT's and I don't care who you're playing we didn't deserve to win. And playing a Top 10 team close is not a good enough standard for the University of Florida.

I don’t disagree, but the Spartans have a great defense with a bunch of athletic bigs. As always.

Somehow our previous coach had many of the same issues. Zone D is difficult for us to deal with. Little outside presence. Seems like we have two bigs out, one with bad knees, one with multiple concussions. That might make a difference.

Few thoughts:

1) Does White focus at all on offense during practices or is it only defense? From our performances in his tenure, I’m leaning towards the latter.

2) Do we need a new strength coach? Feel like Mike Kent just switched over to basketball. We’ve been soft in the paint for a while now, and Hayes looks like he’s gained 2 lbs since he got here.

3) As much as I love Allen, we have to stop putting the ball in his hands late. I can’t think of a time he’s hit a big shot late but I can remember plenty of misses. Please correct me if my memory is failing me.

4) White does not hold his players accountable for reckless shots. It’s apparent he lets our guys do basically whatever they want on offense and take any contested shot at any point. Start sitting guys like you would when they have a breakdown on defense.

5) FREE THROWS! Cannot continue to shoot 50% from the FT line. Get these guys a sports psychologist or something cuz this is getting ridiculous and it’s already cost us a couple games.

Alright, I feel better now :)
#2 i said earlier in my post what the gell has hayes being doing for 4 years dont look like he never picked up a dam dumbell it's so frustrating watching him get shoved around game after game .mw needs to just put all the freshman in and just run

We've played 4 good teams so far (West Virginia is not in that category this year) and lost them all, getting blown out by FSU and losing close games to Oklahoma, Butler and Michigan State. They don't know how to win a close game against a good team and if that remains the case they have no chance at the NCAA tournament and may not even make the NIT. We are 5-4 with 2 wins upcoming against FGCU and Mercer, then a chance to redeem our loss to Butler. Then comes the SEC schedule, 18 games with a game vs. TCU thrown in. We play Tennessee, Kentucky, LSU, Georgia and Vandy twice, the rest of the teams once. The way we're playing, there's a decent chance we have a losing conference record, especially if they can only beat teams they are clearly better than. That's not acceptable.

Why do coaches get replaced ? ... Because of getting beat by 50% of the teams they face ? Especially when there is no reason for your team to be presenting a down year. This Gator group is totally unprepared in standard game plays ? They seem baffled by free throws. They seem disinterested in cutting & breaking & driving & following to break apart the somewhat stationary defense they face. I don't blame the players. Coaching in practices ingrains all the right stuff. Dribbling away 70% of the shot clock is a losing style, It leads to forcing up shots in too much rush = teammates don't know to be ready, no chance to get in solid position. It's just that nearly everything is wrong .. off .. unlearned.?
