Don't know if this has been posted already. But there is a claim that he could argue he is eligible to play in 2019.

Beloved Mule,Holey fook.
Here we go. Another transferring failed QB knobslobathon.
Where is Mohammed? @MotownGator
Given the talk about locker room division and some players bailing on the class, there’s smoke that maybe the culture at UGA was toxic. He may have more than just a drunken comment to give the NCAA
Kirby wouldnt know how to utilize Tom Brady’s skills when the game is on the line. Guy schits his pants when the pressure mounts in his midline. A pattern of choke at UGA is emerging and future recruits should take note.and how to utilize his skills.
NCAA approves rule that ends coaches' ability to block transfers
yes, but it appears that intraconference transfers can be blocked, depending on conference rules.
Well, he did not exactly wow us with his play. Granted, it was his freshman season and I like to redshirt pretty much all freshmen but still. We don’t want him anyway
I don't know if this was mentioned in the thread, but heard a stat just now. Of the 5 star QBs signed in 2013-2016, 75% of them transferred.
I read this elswhere too. Didn't confirm it but here goes:
247Sports has only named 19 Five Star QBs since 2010. Of the 19, 11 (58%) have transferred to a different school after being beat out as freshmen.
Bama being the exception because they’re a recruiting machine like nobody has ever seen, I think it’s better to create a team deep in 4 stars. With a sprinkling of 5*s on the lines and skill positions. Otherwise you run into an issue of discontent.
Could be, not sure if his was an exception due to the circumstances or new SOP. No one has really made a statement on the SEC policy, just that conferences can put rules in placeI’m probably remembering this incorrectly but didn’t the conference vote to rescind blocking intra-conference transfers? Didn't they vote on that and that’s what allowed Van to get to UF?
Yeah, I would not put it past Smart to offer him just to keep him away from UF, Auburn, etc. But what a chit thing to do to a kid!I think Fields was as much a strategic recruit as anything else. You obviously want the top kid in HS, regardless of circumstances. But Smart knew he didn't fit what they do, and he already had his guy plus Eason at the time. His taking a commitment from JF was probably more about the perception of uga recruiting, and to keep him away from schools that could come back to bite him(UF, fsu, etc,). Meyer did that on several occasions and it worked. Outside of the QB depth chart being pretty dicey for a year, if he ends up going to Osu, it's a much better scenario for Smasrt than having him to face him, possibly on an annual basis.

Exactly why recruits should be able to transfer wherever they want and have immediate eligibility. Everyone wants to bash the kids and call em crybabies for transferring but these coaches are snake oil salesmen. These grown men who've been recruiting high school teenagers for decades have a distinct advantage mentally and know exactly what buttons to push. Some of these kids don't have a chance and shouldn't be locked in for 2 years., he wasn't never a fit for what they do... it helps the immediate impact on the brand to get him, and keeps him away from the teams that he could fit into while playing against UGA.
