For all you B+ 'ers let me say that this team is not the same team that took the field the opening game. The team evolved in Mullen's hands and the loss to UK and Mizzou was the transition in progress. This guy is for real. I can't wait to play all three teams we lost to this year again. I'll bet he can't either.

@DK_Thompson: Florida will finish the season with the 22nd ranked scoring offense in 2018. It had not finished higher than 43rd in the last 8 years - with the average over those 8 years ranking 79th in the FBS. #Gators
That's huge. I remember a question asked in a thread here last year to the effect of what offense ranking posters would be satisfied with after Dan's first year. I don't remember anyone answering with a ranking higher than the mid-40's.

It looks to me that Florida will be ranked 6 or 7 at season's end, after the Dwags submitted to the Longhorns. Not too shabby!

First year grade depends on NSD, right now holding a B+, could be an A- or A depending on NSD.

I'd say B+, it would have been an A had they not crapped the bed against Kentucky and Missouri and fallen behind by so many points to Vandy and SCar. We better improve on defense over the spring and summer.

It also took a while to get the kids to believe.

Imo this is the biggest thing. You heard Lewishat was Lewis, right?--saying he was ready to quit. I doubt he was the only one. They were certainly playing like a team that quit and didnt believe in Butters.

This is a big deal. Attitude is everything, and he had to figure out how to bring them back without breaking the most fragile of the bunch.

The psychological aspect of making kids winners was actually CUM's strength. He was never really an Xs and Os guy. It seems like some of it has rubbed off on Mullinz.
Strange but I relate to this post as a fan because from 2011 until about the 4th game of this season I always felt we were most likely going to lose against anyone with a heartbeat...just a non enjoyable, queasy feeling surrounded me anytime I watched us play, even in 2012...

Maybe it was lower expectations going into this year (especially after the UK loss) that made me appreciate the rest of the season so much. But there was also other signs that began to show themselves slowly at first. In game adjustments, different offensive wrinkles for EACH new game, and mostly a calmness about the players the way they handled their business on the field. You could see they believed in what they were asked to do. Rarely did guys look confused or lost.....ok, maybe a few times on defense but they seemed to get that fixed by the end of the year.

Even when being down more than 1 or 2 scores the team never looked panicked or ready to throw in the towel with the exception of Mizzou maybe but that was 1 game instead of half the schedule. To be honest this was the first time in a long while I expected us to win instead of folding up the tent when we were in a tight game or pissing away a lead late in the game while our coaches just looked on helplessly(Butters) or yelled at players for making the same mistakes over and over(Muschamp).

Make no mistakes we still have talent issues and depth on the defensive side of the ball but this team was fun to watch and hopefully will be so for the next few years.

Agreed. Gave an A- due to the shaky recruiting and losing to freakin UK and Mizzou. A 10 win season and definite improvement over the year with wins over FSU and Mich even out the lows.

Mizzou was a gaffe, but KY-Jelly was a legit loss. They held that up with their remaining regular season performanc
Spurrier and Meyer both beat Georgia in their first year, but that wasn't really my point. Was a damn good first year, but not an A. Remember B is above average. An A comes with an SEC championship trophy.

Both UF and UGA were MUCH different teams then vs now. We still owned UGA for both of those coaches. The playing field has been made considerably more even from recruiting to coaching. The tables have since clearly turned against CDM. Apples vs Oranges.

Probably technically the second year......

But most of the recruiting for this class has taken place during the first year. If were were currently around 10 in recruiting and not 17, I would have voted an A. If we were in the top 5, I would have voted an A+.
