Scaffoid fracture is a motherf'er depending on where and how severe its fractured. Scafoid is the bridge bone to the thumb and has very little blood supply. A proximal fx is a different beast than a distal unless I got that backward. Tiny bone. Big problems

I know this all too well. This was the "good" break. Cast for 3 months. The bad break took 8 months altogether and included wearing a bone growth stimulator for 10 hours a day. received_1022362284607992-1.jpg

One was motorcycle the other was basketball. Classic backwards fall and braced myself. The 8 month one sent me in a funk. The one in the picture didn't stop me from doing anything... received_10216269430716435.jpeg

Medic but worked at a physician office as well and became a sponge for any and all knowledge for kicks. Even learned about gram stain positive or negative antibiotics even though I won't ever need to know the difference. I just feel like in this day and age of information access why leave any question you may have go unanswered so research it if one comes to mind.

Funny story, when my youngest son broke his leg at age 10 I was in the recovery room with him when he came out of surgery. His first words were "Dad the room is moving, is this what being drunk feels like?" I answered, "Yes I reckon so". His answer "Cool". LOL at that moment I knew I was in trouble.

Luckily my son didn’t need surgery but the pain of waiting hours to get it realigned was brutal. He did take a lot of morphine but the itching on his nose was unbearable.
