leogator specifies that it's Mullen's talent he's talking about -- a value that we always will have to apply to whomever.

From Hudl : We need to offer #81, Beck's tight end.
Yeah plus some of his receivers.

Carson Beck has talent, let's not forget. Both Alabama and Florida offered him and he is committed to Alabama. The guy surveys the field well, goes to his second and third receiver, has excellent timing, his arm strength is pretty good (not as good as Franks) and leads his receivers (throws them open). I do believe he will be a willing runner.

Maybe DM might scout around for great h.s. QB passer that has also top receivers and offer them all at the outset.?

A question for the people in the know. We already have Keivone Lee committed for 2020. Bowman out of Lakeland is supposedly ours if we want him. Where does that leave EJ Smith, Emmitt's son?

We take all three.

I think Lee is a bit of a different back. More of a hybrid Percy role.

By 2020 both Franks and Trask will be gone. If Richardson stays committed then you only have 3 on the roster. The optimal number is 4. Plus we have seen what Mullen can do with a pocket passer in Franks who was not a very good pocket passer at all. Carson is a very good pocket passer.
Mullinz has never signed a PP, though he has inherited a few.

I in no way want Richardson to bail but there’s gonna be a competitive room regardless of another body

Franks, EJ, JJ and Richardson isn’t competitive enough in year one? Subtract Franks in year 2 and add a 2021 QB.

10 passings tds, 13 rushing tds, and 8ints his sophomore year. This season he went 17 passing, 16 rushing, and 6ints. In 3 seasons, his completion percentage is 49.6. That is worrisome. It is why he may stay a 3 star unless he camps. Joe Milton was trash on the field but was a 4 star because of camps. Nevertheless, I want this kid. He has 5 star talent. Hopefully Mullen can fix the inaccuracy.
Don't remember if it was Rivals or 247, but they mentioned him as a top performer at one of the recent combines, with better accuracy and touch than they expected.

Well he offered Carson Beck with Johnson being his primary recruiter.
Offers are like valentines in elementary school. You send out hundreds.

I said he hasn't signed a pocket passer QB.

2009 - Tyler Russell #12 ProStyle
2010 - Dylan Favre UR Dual Threat
2011 - Dak Prescott UR Dual Threat
2012 - Nick Schuessler UR ProStyle
2013 - Cord Sandberg #8 Dual Threat
Damien Williams UR ProStyle
2014 - Elijah Staley UR Dual Threat
Nick Fitzgerald UR ProStyle
2015 - Nick Tiano #20 ProSyle
2016 - None
2017 - Keytaon Thompson #4 Dual Threat
2018 - Jalen Mayden #16 Dual Threat

These are the MSU signees under Mullen. 2009 was a transition year and Russell was a carryover, so not Mullen's guy. Of the remaining ProStyle QB's on the list, only Nick Tiano is ranked. When I went to Hudl, their was quick evidence that he ran the read option in HS and that he was very athletic. It also revealed that he wasn't really a great passer. So I think it's evident that while a ProStyle prospect, he was recruited to run the option offense.

Another notable ProStyle prospect is Nick Fitzgerald. Well we know what he was recruited to do. The remaining ProSyle guys are unranked. I didn't watch any film on them, but you don't sign unranked ProStyle QB's to be SEC Pocket passers.

Also, 2018 was Mullen's transition year at UFL, but Mayden was recruited by Mullen and committed to Mullen.

You have to cut AR some slack. His receivers are not very good at all, whereas Carson's look like P5 material.

I just want a QB that is accurate, can go through his progressions, let's go of the ball in time to hit timing windows, moves around the pocket, can throw his receivers open. The running part, if he is athletic enough and I believe Carson is, is easy. I don't want to wait until a QB is a senior before he can do all of these things.

A rocket arm has to be the most over rated trait for a college QB or recruit. Pretty much every other skill and trait is more important. See Danny W, Chris Leak, and 1,000 other excellent college QB. It’s a “nice to have” not a “gots to have”.

Sounds easy.

Having better WR's to throw to may be why he looked better. I didn't mean it negatively at all, I'm thrilled he's improving and showed out at the combine.

Because, if he is listed as a PP then obviously the recruit is a college ready thrower and not mobile. And if he is listed as a DT then obviously the recruit is an excellent RB who throws an inaccurate ball.
