I was listening to the Collin Cowherd show I believe he had Joe Katz (spelling) on Tuesday night (replay). The guest said the difference (bama and clemson) is you know when you go to Bama you are going to the factory whether you are a coach or player, you are going for a short time to come out a better player or coach to go else where. You got to Clemson it is a more family like relationship, which is why players and coaches choose to stay longer. Bama has lost 13 coaches since the first NC game against Clemson, Clemson has lost 2.
Never really thought of it like that, but it seems to be true. Saban runs it like a business.

Honestly, I think Bama has been getting by with superior athletes on defense the past few years. Especially their secondary, which is Saban’s baby. The level of coaching seems like it’s declined.

I was talking more about UGA but I agree with you.

Well Alabama WR coach Josh Gattis spurned Maryland to be Michigan OC.

Also UGA offered Kentucky OC Eddie Gran their OC position. So far no decision.

Gran at Ugly would be weird. No one bagged on Gran at Barn more than Ugly.

This constant turnover can't be good.

I posted this in another thread, but the turnover isn't that big of a deal anymore w/ the "analysts" and "quality control" position on staff. These coaches already have the replacement on staff (most of the time). They simply promote an analyst and problem solved. Most of these analysts at Alabama, UGA, Ohio State, etc are former position coaches at smaller schools (like Troy, South Alabama, ECU, etc) who make more money as an analyst w/ Saban - and if they don't get a promotion on Saban's staff they take a job w/ the OC or DC who leaves (joining Kirby's UGA staff, or Pruitt's UT staff, or Locksley's Maryland staff, etc). When Jimbo won the NC in 2013 he had replaced 6 of his 9 "on-field" coaches that previous off-season. Saban loses 2+ coaches a year. The invention of "analysts" has changed the dynamic of losing assistants.

North Carolina: Mack Brown has now announced Robert Gillespie is being retrained and will work with the running backs, Scott Boone will serve as special teams coordinator and outside linebackers coach, Stacy Searels will coach the offensive line. Also, the additions of official Darrell Moody and Sparky Woods are now official in senior advisor roles.

The secondary turnover was mentioned in the broadcast but I hadn’t noticed a word about it until then. This “reload” idea works to a degree but there’s no teacher like experience.

But Clemson has tended to pick them apart the last few years.

This guy coached at UGA, Miami, and FSU. We hate him, right?

Georgia: Co-offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach James Coley has been promoted to offensive coordinator. He steps in following the departure of Jim Chaney who left to become the offensive coordinator at Tennessee. Coley previously served as offensive coordinator at Miami and Florida State.

Interestingly, he was an OC under offensive coaches. Very different to be the OC under a D minded coach. Especially one as new to being an HC as Kirby is. I can envision this not ending well.

Gotta give Matt Luke credit for his off-season hires. He has two former P5 head coaches as coordinators (Mike MacIntyre as DC and Rich Rod as OC)....plus Rich Rod is bringing one of his top assistants. Question: Can Matt Corral run the offense?

Isn't he supposed to be good? Aside from playing them for next year, wouldn't we rather he be at scUM thank Bama?

Enos is solid. He quit his head coaching gig at Central Michigan to join Bielema at Arkansas...and then landed on Saban's staff. I'm surprised he didn't land another head coaching gig vs. getting OC gigs.

Would seem to be easier to slide around into different OC gigs than to deal with all the HC stuff. Especially if you're even decent. Except for Nuss.

@AndrewSpiveyGC: Oh wow

From footballscoop:

Georgia: Source tells FootballScoop the candidates for Georgia’s defensive backs job include LSU’s Corey Raymond, Florida’s Charlton Warren and two other college defensive backs guys, who both have NFL coaching experience as well. Stay tuned….
