hopefully there’s not one of these already. My wife and I work hard during the week and watch shows on the weekend. So we’ve seen just about everything there is to see. Here’s some of my favorites lately and if you have some good ones definitely share. We run out of stuff to watch very often.

Counterpart (Starz, 2 seasons)- starring JK Simmons. 100% rotten tomatoes

Definitely lives up to the hype. Synopsis:

What might be different if a person could co-exist in an alternate world? Howard Silk, a low-level agent whose career is winding down at a Berlin-based United Nations spy agency, unwittingly learns the answer. Upon discovering his organization is harboring a secret, that of a gateway to a parallel dimension, Howard becomes immersed in a mysterious world of espionage, intrigue, and government conspiracies. There, the only man Howard can trust is Prime, his almost identical counterpart from a divergent reality.

Fortitude: (Amazon 2 seasons. 87% rotten tomatoes) starring Dennis Quaid (second season), Richard Dormer, Stanley Tucci

Love this show. One of my favorites over the last few years. Synopsis:

Fortitude is a town in the Arctic that is unlike any other place on Earth. Surrounded by the picturesque polar landscape and filled with residents who form a tight-knit community, the town has never been the site of a violent crime. That changes, though, when a research scientist is killed, which leads to an investigation that prompts police officers begin to suspect and mistrust one another. Members of the community also struggle to understand the terror that has been unleashed among them. While all this is going on, above-average temperatures result in record ice melt, which reveals secrets that have long been hidden underneath Fortitude's frozen landscape.

Goliath- Amazon Prime (2 seasons, 82% rotten tomatoes)- Starring Billy Bob Thornton

Synopsis:

Once a powerful lawyer, Billy McBride is now a washed up ambulance chaser, who spends more time in bars than the courtroom. When Billy reluctantly agrees to pursue a wrongful death lawsuit against the massive law firm he helped create, a vast and deadly conspiracy comes to light. Billy and his team end up in a life-or-death trial against the ultimate foe, which could end up helping Billy find redemption and exact revenge on the firm. The Amazon original series is created by David E. Kelley and Jonathan Shapiro.

The Haunting of Hill House- Netflix (1 season, 92% rotten tomatoes)

Thought this show was really really good. Creepy, but not scary

Synopsis:

This modern reimagining of the Shirley Jackson novel follows siblings who, as children, grew up in what would go on to become the most famous haunted house in the country.. Now adults, they are forced back together in the face of tragedy and must finally confront the ghosts of their past. Some of those ghosts still lurk in their minds, while others may actually be stalking the shadows of Hill House. The ensemble cast includes Oscar winner Timothy Hutton, Carla Gugino and Henry Thomas. Mike Flanagan, a veteran of the horror genre, created the series.

Get Shorty- Netflix (1 season, 78% rotten tomatoes)- starring Ray Ramano.

Stylish and tonally like Breaking Bad. Good story, good actors, good action all around.

Synopsis:

Working as muscle for a murderous Nevada crime ring, Miles Daly decides to change professions and become a Hollywood movie producer.

Mad Dogs- Amazon (1 season, 67% rotten tomatoes) you should know every actor in it.

I loved this show. Lower RT score but it’s a great one season hit. Murder, mystery, laughs, wtf moments. It’s got it all

Synopsis:

When a group of underachieving 40-something friends gather in Belize to celebrate the early retirement of an old friend, a series of wild events unfold, exposing dark secrets, deception and even murder. Starring Ben Chaplin (The Thin Red Line), Michael Imperioli (The Sopranos), Billy Zane (Twin Peaks), Steve Zahn (Dallas Buyers Club) and Romany Malco (Weeds). Executive produced by Cris Cole and Shawn Ryan (The Shield)."

Jack Ryan- Amazon (1 season, 74% rotten tomatoes)- starring Jim from The Office

Grew up on the Jack Ryan films with Harrison Ford and this does the character justice

Synopsis:

When CIA analyst Jack Ryan stumbles upon a suspicious series of bank transfers his search for answers pulls him from the safety of his desk job and catapults him into a deadly game of cat and mouse throughout Europe and the Middle East, with a rising terrorist figurehead preparing for a massive attack against the US and her allies

I’ve got a ton more but I don’t want to keep listing stuff if everyone’s seen them. Let me know what you’ve seen lately! I’ll add more later

Keep listing! I’ve meant to start this same thread asking for suggestions but figured it had already been done. Loved Jack Ryan. I may be accused of being gay, but I enjoyed Downton Abbey. From years ago, I enjoyed Breaking Bad and Sons of Anarchy. The Sopranos is the benchmark for a television series for me.

Punisher season 2 is out in a week! Really excited about that one. Daredevil lives in my building (so does iron fist) so I get to talk to them about their show or at least I did until they got canceled lol

My tastes run quite differently than those who have posted so far.

I did see schooled the other night and it seemed to have some potential. Sort of like welcome back with a bad student as a future student.

I also watch some old animation on Amazon Prime, but probably nobody would be interested in them.

One some of you guys might really like is:

Barry- HBO (1 season, 99% rotten tomatoes) Starring Bill Hader, Stephen Root (university of Florida grad)

In the first 20 minutes of the first episode the main actress takes Bill hader to a bar with all of her acting buddies. She talks about how she’s not from LA and Bill Hader’s character goes “so you guys aren’t from here?”. She replies “nobody is from la. I’m from (so and so), Jake over here is from Florida.. (Jake looks over at Bills character and goes): “Go Gators!”

Funny show that isn’t a comedy I would say. Great story, acting, action, build up to the end, and obviously funny banter but not cheesy in any way. Done very well and some obvious gator references

Synopsis:

Starring Bill Hader as a depressed, low-rent hitman from the Midwest. Lonely and dissatisfied in his life, he reluctantly travels to Los Angeles to execute a hit on an aspiring actor. Barry follows his "mark" into an acting class and ends up finding an accepting community in a group of eager hopefuls within the LA theater scene. He wants to start a new life as an actor, but his criminal past won't let him walk away -- can he find a way to balance both worlds?

Some others

Homecoming- Amazon (1 season, 98% rotten tomatoes) Starring Julia Roberts

Blew my mind

Synopsis:

Heidi Bergman is a caseworker at Homecoming, a facility that helps soldiers transition back to civilian life. She leaves Homecoming to start a new life living with her mother and working as a small-town waitress. Years later, the Department of Defense questions why she left, which makes Heidi realize that there's a whole other story behind the one that she's been telling herself. Oscar winner Julia Roberts stars as Heidi in the first regular TV series role of her career. "Homecoming" is based a podcast of the same name.

Ordeal By Innocence- Amazon (1 season, 94% rotten tomatoes) really good murder mystery

Synopsis:

Old wounds are reopened for the Argyll family after learning that Jack, the black sheep of the clan, may not have killed the Argylls' tyrannical matriarch and that one of them may be the real murderer.

The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina- Netflix (1 season, second season due April, 81% rotten tomatoes)

A different look at Sabrina the teenage witch. Darker, focuses more on the witchcraft aspect and satanism, but still a fun watch and tonally fun all around. Not a cheesy teenager show at all but something adults can really get into.

Synopsis:

This adaptation of the "Sabrina the Teenage Witch" tale is a dark coming-of-age story that traffics in horror and the occult. In the reimagined origin story, Sabrina Spellman wrestles to reconcile her dual nature -- half-witch, half-mortal -- while standing against the evil forces that threaten her, her family -- including aunts Hilda and Zelda -- and the daylight world humans inhabit. Kiernan Shipka ("Mad Men") leads the cast in the titular role of the show that is based on a comic series of the same name.

Bosch- Amazon (4 seasons, 95% rotten tomatoes) lots of actors from the Wire in this one. Good cop show with season long story lines instead of episodic.

Synopsis:

An L.A.P.D. homicide detective works to solve the murder of a thirteen-year-old boy while standing trial in federal court for the murder of a serial killer.

One my phone so no long synopsis but The Last Kingdom on Netflix is pretty good. It’s loosley based on 9th century English history and the constant battles between the native English mini kingdoms and the invading Danish Vikings. Lots of battles and political intrigue of the day. Very good acting. Your wife will definitely like the hero. He’s “dreamy”.

Brockmire. It's find on IFC, but can stream from other sites listed on their website. It is cringe worthy hilarious. Season 1, episode 1 is probably the funniest episode of any sitcom I have ever watched.

Brockmire

Brockmire (Hank Azaria) is a famed major league baseball announcer who suffers an embarrassing and very public meltdown live on the air after discovering his beloved wife’s serial infidelity. A decade later, Jim Brockmire decides to reclaim his career and love life in a small American rust belt town that has seen better days, calling minor league baseball games for the Morristown Frackers. The struggling team is led by Jules (Amanda Peet), the strong-willed, hard-drinking owner and Charles (Tyrel Jackson Williams), the naïve but enthusiastic team intern.

Opening 2 minute scene from that episode 1 which has the "meltdown":

Wow, no one has mentioned Ozark with Jason Bateman.

Netflix (2 seasons)
The Byrdes and their teenage kids, Charlotte and Jonah, are, for all intents and purposes, an ordinary family with ordinary lives. Except for the job of Marty, a Chicago financial advisor who also serves as the top money launderer for the second largest drug cartel in Mexico. When things go awry, Marty must uproot his family from the skyscrapers of Chicago and relocate to the lazy lake region of the Missouri Ozarks.

A few more that I love, and the OA was signed on for 5 seasons. Second season should be coming out any day now but like they did with the first season im guessing it’s going to drop with zero advertising or fan Fair.

The OA- Netflix (1 season, 75% rotten tomatoes)

My wife and I absolutely loved this show. Has Jason Isaacs (The Patriot, Harry Potter) in it and it’s a fresh take on an old premise: dimensional travel. One of my top 2-3 shows on Netflix bar none.

Synopsis:

In addition to her role as creator and executive producer of this mind-bending series, Brit Marling also plays the role Prairie Johnson, a young woman who returns home after a 7-year disappearance. Her sudden return is not the only miraculous occurrence: everyone is shocked to learn that Prairie is no longer blind. While the FBI and her parents are anxious to discuss Prairie's disappearance, she won't talk about what happened during the time that she was missing. Zal Batmanglij, the co-creator and an executive producer of the series, is the director of every episode.

Castle Rock- Hulu (1 season, 87% rotten tomatoes) Starring Sissy Spacek, Bill Skarsgaard

Basically ties together every Steven King novel. Takes place in a town called Castle Rock (from the 79 novel The Dead Zone) with the main source of income for locals being the local prison: Shawshank.

Synopsis:

The Stephen King multiverse is the setting for this psychological horror series that takes place in Castle Rock, Maine, which is a location familiar to fans of King's work. "Castle Rock" explores themes and worlds that unite King's canon, including the infamous Shawshank Prison. An anonymous phone call lures death-row attorney Henry Deaver back to Castle Rock. He is unsettled by his hometown, but he returns to help a sinister, mostly mute man being kept in a cage underneath Shawshank. Sissy Spacek and Bill Skarsgård, who starred in feature adaptations of King's "Carrie" and "It," respectively, are among the show's stars.

The Looming Tower- Hulu (1 season, 88% rotten tomatoes) Starring Jeff Daniels

Basically this show revolves around the internal struggle surrounding the CIA and FBIs top brass when it comes to intelligence revolving around terror threats leading up to 9/11.

Synopsis:

The Looming Tower" traces the rising threat of Osama bin Laden and al-Qaida in the late '90s and how a rivalry between the FBI and CIA during the time period may have inadvertently set the path for the attacks of 9/11. The series follows members of the I-49 Squad in New York and Alec Station in Washington, D.C. -- the counterterrorism divisions of the FBI and CIA, respectively -- as they travel around the world, fighting for ownership of information while seemingly working toward a common goal of preventing an imminent attack on American soil.

Big Little Lies- HBO (1 season, second season out this year, weirdly doesn’t have a RT score but if it did it’d be well over 90%) starring Reese Witherspoon, Nicole Kidman, and a bunch of others

We loved this show because it takes place around where we got married. Great murder mystery where you know from the first second someone died but you have no idea who did it or who it was until the very end.

Synopsis:

Big Little Lies" weaves a darkly comedic tale of murder and mischief in the tranquil beachfront town of Monterey, Calif. Amidst doting moms, successful husbands, beautiful children, and stunning homes exists a community fueled by rumors and divided into haves and have-nots, exposing fractured relationships between husbands and wives, parents and children, and friends and neighbors. Told through the eyes of three mothers -- Madeline, Celeste and Jane -- the series' narrative explores society's myths regarding perfection and its romanticization of marriage, sex, parenting and friendship. Reese Witherspoon, Nicole Kidman and Shailene Woodley star as the three prominent "mothers of Monterey
