Johnson was a huge under appreciated factor tonight. 5 offensive rebounds, 4 def rebounds, 3 assists, 3 steals, and only credited with 1 block. I saw at least 3 blocks from Johnson. 2 years ago I saw so much potential from Stone. Now I just see us as better with Johnson getting more minutes.

Huge comeback win for the Gators. TAM was the worst 3 point shooting team in the SEC but hit 7/11 3s in the first half. They would only hit 2/11 in the 2nd half thanks to our tough Defense. Gators outscored TAM 48-26 in the 2nd half. As Mick Hubert said on the radio, UF has held EVERY team they have played this season under their season scoring average. Locke with 27 points and Allen with 31 to continue his stellar senior season. Those 2 hit 15 combined 3s, the most ever by a duo in UF history in one game. Gators were able to overcome a 13 point half time deficit by hitting 11/15 3s in the 2nd half. Neb with 11 assists and 6 rebounds. KJ with 2 points, 9 rebs, 3 assists, and 3 steals. Hayes with 8 points, 6 rebounds and 3 blocks. Nice Win! Go Gators!!

This is a big win for the boys... considering we rank dead last (14th) in the conference in FG% at 42.4% and aTm is tied for 11th at 43.6% not to mention we rank 13th in Pats/Gm. at 69.1 and aTm ranks 12th at 72.8. Big win for us for sure.

Can’t want to take on @TCU, vs. Ole Miss, vs. UK, @Auburn and @UT. 2-3 would be a win.

Didn't realize that we were that rank. By tonight, do we now see that it is okay to cultivate no inside game?

When he first joined, Tay was sarcastic, funny, and added great GIFs. I feel all we get now are bytching about Gator fans and this board.

What happened Tay B?

Doesn't make sense to think Stokes' playing is curtailed because he's out of shape.
Judging from his minutes history:
Game 1 = FSU 14 minutes
Game 2 = 10 min
Game3 LaSalle 16 min
Games 4,5,6 = 0 mins
No.FL 9 mins
WVU 5 mins
Mich St 9 mins
Mercer 7 mins
FGC 10 mins
Butler II 2 min
USC 14 min
Ark, UT, Miss St, UGa 0 mins all
aTm 5 mins

IMO Stokes' knee must be swelling, tightening, etc, limiting mobility-effectiveness. = comes & goes.??

Or maybe he's lazy and won't put in the work to get in shape.

I said in the box during the first half that TAMU couldn’t keep that shooting performance up. Law of averages always wins. Glad Allen and Locke found their stroke. HUGE stretch of games coming up.

We had to get that win. Still alive for a berth. A 2 - 4 start would have been fatal.

Still think it might take 8 - 4 the rest of the way to be assured a spot.

We definitely were a much different team in the 2nd half but that shows coaching adjustments and our guys playing tough and not giving up. The defensive sets were killer as we played TAM very tight. Hayes and KJ played tough and were flying around all over the place getting rebounds and steals and blocks. The offense was so fluid, running so many screens for open shooters and the hot hands in Locke and Allen. They were very confident shooting the ball no doubt. Hudson even made a few shots. Will we hit 18 3s again in a single game? Probably not but it was great seeing our guys with a huge 2nd half comeback and didn't back down. They were certainly having fun out there for sure. Go Gators!!

Was at the game last night with my wife and daughter, wife has mentioned twice today how much fun it was.
Not a big crowd but we were making some noise down the stretch run, was happy to see us come back like that.

Again on Stokes ... he started the season in good enough shape to play 14-16 minutes a game. How does a player practice and play himself into worse shape than how he started the year? That's physiologically impossible. Now, if his repaired knee had flare-ups, then that provides a more likely fate. Look at UF's history of failures at good-results on 'surgerized' knees on our "big men". I can recall only complete failures. It's reasonable to suspect that knee complications explains Stokes' absences ... erratic minutes. (Look at the playing time allowed for Gak.) It's an indictment against trainers and coaches if they watch helplessly uninvolved as a crucial hopeful contributor somehow works himself "out of shape" as the season goes along?? Since it involves Stokes medical condition, perhaps his doctor reccommends play or no-play to White. Then talk on it could be deemed private? Who knows?

Practicing & playing yourself out of shape can't be. That would mean, after Stokes started the season at 10-16 minutes per game, trainers and coaches let him slack so awfully in practices (not jumping high enough, running downcourt always too late, dogging it in every drill, etc.??) slacked himself out of physiological progression? No coach would allow that ... that would exist as an "on-court" cancer for the whole team, for any respect for the entire staff and certainly disrespect for White and also whole-team dislike for Stokes. That just wouldn't be allowed on any basketball team.

Stokes has shown skills we desperately need. Neither teammates nor coaches would tolerate Stokes dragging down their team.

How could ya not love a game played like that. Very smart for teammates not named Allen or Locke to 'pass up' shooting and defer to our two hot hands. Now at practtice White needs to rehearse them on the inside attack that will occur when LockeAllen start draining 3s again. Their performance last night flowed the team into an unstoppable rhythm. Going forward into elimination tournament-time, we'll have to have in & out play. What ever happened to teams that consistently got opposing players in foul trouble.(Guess we don't have the depth, or is it that we aren't trained to be aggressive inside.

K.Johnson got aggressive last night and we benefited greatly. Keep it coming KJ.
the crucial measure is = will we fall back or glide forward? Stay tuned for next game.
Nembhard needs to drive-score or drive to dish -- trailers must activate in tandem with him. Nembhart can't keep shooting 3s (1 for 6). Sorrowfully, wouldn't Stone have had fun last night? Grow Gators. Bassett needs to learn from KJ. And now we need a coupla more 8-ppg scorers across the lineup .... who do you suggest? Hudson also needs to up his 3-pt %. Is this manner of this game our eureka? Did we learn that lemmings can fly??

The SEC started out with several strong teams and now Martin has USC back to being their pesky selves. If the LockeAllen line keeps chugging, the SEC race and the SEC tournament might turn-a-bit exciting for UF.

At post-game pressers, has anyone asked about Stokes' non-use? Now that would be pressing news??

I have now watched all the game. So of course I have a few thoughts:

1. I think the switch to having the offensive meltdown the last 5 to 10 minutes of the first half is a much better idea than having it to end the game. It would be better to play a full game, but if you are going to have that offensive lull better that it not be at the end of the game.

2. I guess is was a slow night in the NHL and a busy night is college basketball so UF drew the NHL crew that allowed players to be checked out of bounds without them calling it a foul. I am not sure if the officiating or lack there of affected the game much, but I am glad it did not cause the game to get chippy. I could have seen players from either side being unhappy. Sure some of the lack of calls were that so many 3s were taken by both teams, but there were also a number of hits that might have been targeting in another sport that were apparently incidental.

3. UF was very loose with the ball last night, including a bunch of terrible live ball turnovers. That needs to be tightened up.

4. This I believe makes two good offensive games in a row for Allen. Maybe just maybe something has finally clicked and he will be reasonably assertive offensively for the rest of his Sr season.

5. BTW, UF is 25 in Kenpom and 36 in the new NCAA net statistic. Thus the metrics put UF in position to earn a bid. Now UF must go out and win enough to maintain those rankings and have an NCAA bid type record.
