They elected Gillum mayor, and it damn sure wasn't for his honesty or intelligence...
ok, let me break it down for you. Gillum was elected by the city bc he promised a bunch of poor lazy jackoffs free stuff. Black or white, free stuff gets the votes from handout voters. Support for a football coach still requires results, regardless of skin color. Fans are old fashioned that way. Will there be a select group that pump him regardless of his results simply bc of his skin? Yes. Will it be a significant factor in the length of time he's employed there? No. Fans, regardless of color want to win more than be socially woke.

The boosters don’t show the wherewithal to pay him off, but there is a lot of commingling of funds with the athletic department. Their debt load is close to double of ours.

All that said, they’ll just use chainsaw Al’s money to pay him off

If what you said were true, liberals would win every election. They offer free stuff in every election, but thankfully only win when there are a bunch of other liberals in the area.
Let me break this down for you. The nulls black AD, who publicly stated he wanted a black HC, will not fire that coach after two years, especially with a huge buyout in the contract.

 that black AD left in august of last year. The current dude is an old white dude. And the reason libs don't win is just as you said, bc there's plenty of folks who DONT care about free stuff. The same folks who don't care about the color of a coaches skin. The few inner city supporters of taggert bc of his skin color are dawrfed by the many outside of the town that are still part of the fan base and don't base their football team support on woke politics. I can't even believe your attempting to argue this, it's so bad. there are halfassu fans and boosters outside of tally you know. A city election is not the same as support for a football coach.

It wasn't my intention to turn this thread into a political debate about the demographics of the panhandle. Drop it and get back to laughing at FSU.

I didn't realize Wilcox had left, I stand corrected, but I still think Taggelwain gets a 3rd year. They don't want the optics, as others have stated, and the buyout is still huge. Either way, and something I would hope we can agree on, FVKK the nulls.

I hope he does. But unlike a bunch of folks in here commenting about their knowledge of the panhandle despite not being from there, I actually have lived there most of my life. I'm 70 miles from tally. I know a lot of fsu fans of all colors, I'm surrounded by them. I don't know a single black fsu fan that has anything good to say about taggert. Everyone thinks he sucks and wants him gone. Football is just different than other things like politics, and thank God for that. It's one of the few remaining arenas that is strictly results based. I also know a handful of fsu boosters, and not just small money ones. I'm talking big time known names in fsu circles. Out of the 4 I know 3 of them were very dissatisfied in the hire from the get go, and the 4th has since stated taggert was a huge mistake. Granted all four are white, but they have deep pockets and 2 of them have the ear of the AD. One is a good friend of mines grandfather who has a personal relationship with the AD. According to this man, the boosters by and large are extremely unhappy with taggert and want significant performance improvement this coming season or many will be closing their wallets and demanding changes.

With such allegations being made and true he needed to go earlier. Let's hope none of our QBs decide to try there.

I'm surprised Willie let him go considering how poor depth is at the position. The previous two coaches would have kept him on for sure. That said, things are looking really bad there. Doubtful he makes it through the third season. Even so, that should mean two more poor recruiting classes on top of this one, which will lead to a 4 year rebuild for the next coach. So FSU will probably suck the next six years at least.

His buyout is 85% of the remainder of the contract, which pays him $5m per over six years.

5 x 5 x .85 = 21.25m

They're kinda phucked.

many will be closing their wallets and demanding changes.

... closing their wallets 'cause all they got left is change.
Unless Osceola's flaming spear strikes a'bubbling crude, they in for a dry spell money-wise.

Like to see sportswriters start calling them The Seminopes.

Keeping Tagglewain would show FSU students that civics lesson on Affirmative Action.
Sure this may hurt their win/loss record but mainly it will thrive as negative recruiting by FSU itself against itself.
Coming soon, a Sarah McClachlan video on poor Renegade needing shelter help.

Astonishing to believe they paid this for a coach with a career losing record.

There were a fair number of UF boosters who were starry eyed over Taggart and his ability to recruit. Thank God we didn't bite.

Six years.

TV money is the best and worst thing that ever happened to college football.

Except that is all myth. In fact he didn't do anything in his career of note except land a really good QB by G5 standards at South Fla once.
