I listen to these podcasts during commutes. I know they are long but usually good.

I kind of like our running backs wearing 22 or 21.

I'm really glad for perine. I was afraid he was going to be odd man out last year but he really earned it.

I don’t mind much with the jersey numbers.

100% agree on Perine though. The injury to Davis definitely helped him out, which I mean with no disrespect to either. Just saying with less mouths to feed he got fed more.

Serious question for everyone though:
Has there been a more consistent back this decade than Perine?
Gillislee was solid for a year, Demps/Rainey were never the same after Tebow, Taylor/Jones/Brown were poster boys of inconsistency. Scarlett maybe, when he was getting carries and playing.

Mullen is taking shots everywhere, this one at Mcbuttshark is great:

“I would hope a guy like [Franks] expects to be the starter,” Mullen said. “But he better know he's got to compete to make sure he keeps that job because there's other guys that want to compete to go take that job from him. I think any time at any position, if you ever lose that .. I'm Coach 1. There's a lot of people that want to be the head coach at the University of Florida, so I don't just sit there and be like, 'Well, I'm the head coach at Florida. I've got nothing to worry about.'

“I show up every day making sure I stay the head coach at the University of Florida. You never know.”

Missed that. This dude always has run hard and *fingers crossed* has NEVER fumbled. I thought he did well in spite of Nuss’ offense. A career average of 6.2 ypc isn’t too shabby either.

Now is he a blow you away guy? No, but the guy is consistent and can be both powerful and explosive.

This is all we could hope for. I loved his commentary and his willingness to let the starter get beat out. Unlike Brantley and Driskel who were unquestioned starters

Based on Mullens history it will be Frank's for game one unless Jones played way better in camp. He will make a switch when Frank's costs us a game or Jones starts due to an injury and plays well.

Think he fumbled against Tennessee last year, then redeemed himself with the onside recovery

I was screaming more Perine/Pierce and less Scarlett all last season. Pretty excited about the backfield this year ... though the OL is gonna have to get there'chit together quickly.

Was a Perine fan from day 1. I trust my eyes when I watch film, and I knew Perine had the "it" factor at RB. He may not have that breakaway speed to take it to the house on every carry, but I never worry about us losing yards with him in the backfield even on a blown-up play. He's the best back we have on the roster, and that's a damn good roster we have at RB right now.

Been a fan since I first saw him on the field, kid didn't look like the best athlete, but had vision and a running backs abilities.
