Obviously everyone knows the incoming freshmen we have coming in, but what about grad transfers? I’m thinking Ballard, Okauru, and possibly one of Gak/Bassett transfer out leaving us with 3 open spots.

Now, maybe I’m wrong and all stay, but in this day and age I highly doubt it. Anybody have their ear to the ground so to say, regarding potential grad transfers (particularly for the 4/5 spots)?

PG - Nembhard/Mann
SG- Locke/Lewis
SF - Johnson/Stone
PF- Bassett/Payne
C- Gak/Stokes

Thoughts?

We’re gonna be good. I mean, real good. I posted this in another thread but it kinda applies here.

I don’t know about you all but I’m excited this year is over, these crappy seniors are gone and some real talent will now be at Florida for Coach White to coach and develop. We all know the talent was lacking and the current roster was lucky to even make the tournament let alone win a game.

Next year we will be at least an Elite Eight team. Book it.

We're returning as leading scorers KJ at 10ppg, Nembhard at 8ppg.
8 SEC teams have higher ppg averages than UF. All have at least twice the # of talls coming back.
Not being fatalistic, just expressing urgency towards a major shakeup needed.
The other SEC teams are opening gaps on UF and they're racing ahead while UF lags further behind.
We were 8th in the SEC ... 9-9. Those 8 teams should be as good next year, while teams 9,10,11 may leapfrog us.
It's possible we're being scuttled and White lives to "slow bail".

I think we have a chance to be really good next year.

Nembhard
Locke
Lewis
Johnson
Grad transfer or Payne or Bassett or Stokes

Mann

Does Ballard, okauru and stone transfer?

I've seen that we were recruiting another stud sg from IMG. Lester quinones, he recently visited and was a high 4 star last I checked.

Also seen that we was recruiting the jitoboh kid. Doesn't look like a very good fit to me.

I have no doubt year 5 will be the turning point. That dribble aimlessly until there are 5 seconds left on the shot clock offense is going to set the world on fire.

In no scenario will Bassett play power forward. Does not have skill set.

He doesn’t have a terrible shot and could develop it further to be more of a stretch 4. I just don’t see him as a 5 either

Not sure who’s going to dominate the interior. Our biggest kid will be a 6’9 freshman. Hasn’t he basically only recruited guards 6’2-6’4 guards for 2 straight years?

I guess you’d say Stokes. But I don’t think he’s talented enough.

Stokes is very talented, just really raw. And I’m hoping White gets a 4 or 5 by way of a grad transfer.

Johnson will start at SF - although he’s really a swing man. Probably SF in a small ball lineup.

Payne will start at C the day he walks on campus. Has a 7’5 wingspan. He will be a defensive stalwart.

@rogdochar back in 05 we lost our top 3 scorers, Lee, Roberson, and Walsh and our returning top scorer was Corey Brewer at 7.5 points a game so we had no prospects for scoring coming back like next year. Entering into the 05-06 season we were ranked as high as 70th to begin the season. We all know how that season played out. Not saying this team is going to win the NC but the roster is not as doom and gloom as we may think. We are loaded next season and our offense will be much better. I say we win 24 games or so and 12 in the SEC. How many do you think we win? Or will we have a Vandy/UGA type year with all the SEC teams jumping over us and we end up next to last place in the SEC at 2-16?

Anyone think Lewis plays SF and KJ stays at the PF. While I agree KJ is more a SF, I think Lewis is good enough to start. Plus with a good chunk of the year at PF, KJ may be comfortable there although undersized.

It could work as both KJ and Lewis play taller than their height. Get your best 5 on the floor.

Stone will miss the first half of the season.
I can see both Okauru and Ballard leaving - don't know why they wouldn't when we're bringing in better players at their positions.
I think Bassett stays - I think he likes being a Gator. Don't know or care about Gak - he can go.
Payne will play Center.

I'm pretty sure the Dream Team could be held to under 60 with White drawing up the plays. What makes anyone think next year is going to be any different? There is ZERO organization to our offense.

He plays too soft for either, I see him as a backup 5 at best.

Dream team had ballhandlers and slashers in addition to everything else.

Next year I see us playing faster pace due to the skill sets of those on the court.

You can’t play fast if you don’t have ballhandlers, passers and slashers.

I have no doubt year 5 will be the turning point. That dribble aimlessly until there are 5 seconds left on the shot clock offense is going to set the world on fire.

Yesterday I counted 63 possessions (31 first and 32 2nd half). 42 times we shot with 10 or more seconds on the clock. 21 times under 10 seconds with 9 of those at 5 and under. Many, many shots very early in the shot clock.

I charted it myself due to someone posting similar numbers last game just during the comeback period by Nevada. Those numbers surprised me even though I was not as critical simply because I know this team as constructed cannot play or sustain uptempo basketball. It’s really the only effective strategy for us offensively. But I had the same thoughts as everyone else....we run clock on nearly every possession.

Turns out not to be true. What really becomes clear is how many times we get the shot we want....chip shots in the paint or open 3’s and miss them. We are a team without a closer. We don’t have a reliable go-to guy. Our best shooters are also our streakiest shooters. We’re just a small team with little inside presence and few who can finish at the rim.

Ballhandling and slashing are useless without some sort of thoughtful ball movement. We have ZERO. We stand around waiting for opportunity that doesn't exist to knock. Finally, as the shot clock winds down, we make a sorry attempt at getting a shot off. I saw it again and again this season.

This is quite possibly the most unimaginative, uninspiring and mind-numbingly reactive pile of offensive garbage I've ever seen.

And ball movement with a purpose is useless without ballhandlers and slashers. We have very limited skill sets. No inside presence, no slashers, 1 ballhandler and passer, and a bunch of catch and shoot streaky shooters.

You want what you can’t have with this lineup. Next year the mix is more advantageous for quicker tempo. Lewis, Payne and Mann all play fast. KJ and Andrew will adapt and Locke can be the catch and shoot guy and will probably be significantly more effective with the looks he will get from the drives and kick.
