I know we’re desperate for inside beef but this kid basically quit because of mounting injuries. Feels like a reach with little upside.

he seems to have had a change of heart and rediscovered his hunger for the game.

maybe Savage can bring him all the way back.....

if we have a couple more transfers, he and an OL transfer might not be bad takes.

I’m not questioning his heart - I’m questioning his ability to stay healthy.

While I agree that we have a need, these transfers are not gonna help us the way some seem to think.

I have no problem with looking to improve the team, but if you have to try to sign every transfer out there that says a lot about the coach and his ability to recruit high end guys. Unless we're going after an O lineman or a truly gifted player I think we should stay away from the portal.

Again, I'm not advocating that we shouldn't accept transfers. I'm just not thrilled with taking castaway quitters.

Take A. Clayton for example... He was a highly rated recruit who didn't see much playing time here. I'm sure other programs will jump at the chance at this reclamation project.
However, the ugly truth is that he was an entitled recruit that virtually wanted to quit when he first got on campus when he wasn't handed the starting job.

Don't get me wrong, I know there's a lot of kids that have legitimate reasons to seek a transfer. I just think that the portal is sending the wrong message to some of these kids. When things get tough, just quit and go somewhere else. And with all of the immediate eligibility being handed out by the NCAA, their further driving home that point.

If we have the scholarship available, I say take him, take the chance. The walk on that will get the scholly is just a big a gamble.

This. Unless this kid miraculously got healed at a Jimmy Swaggart Revival, he's a risk and a reach.

I think we should definitely try to land a DT/SDE transfer in 2020 - a kid that can play in the 2020 & 2021 seasons - be it a JUCO or a regular transfer, to help bridge the gap of two years of misses at the heavy DL positions. We need to load up on HS kids in this class and add one transfer that can play right away in 2020/21.

This kid might be 'that' guy, but his past doesn't seem to point in that direction.

Graduate transfer. I would interview him if he wants to play closer to home and be a Gator. Otherwise pass, he has other alternatives.

it might be, but I'm not sure if that was the case with clayton. He spent 3 years here and agreed to RS this past season. Some guys just dont translate to the next level.

Hard to see someone with 2-3y of eligibility left being a 'grad transfer'. I suppose it happens.

I read the article, it says directly he will be graduating in the spring. If you have an easy major and take a lot of classes. perhaps have some credits from HS, it is possible.

Maybe I'm wrong, but I vaguely remember hearing something about him wanting to transfer after his first year(sans
recherche).
