Well the time came and we had to put Zuma down today. It’s been a really hard day for us. Never easy making those decisions. She was 14.5 yo and the cancer took over, rapidly.

sorry to hear NV, we had to put down our lil boy of 17 years right after thanksgiving weekend. It's a tough road. In my thoughts.

Sorry NV. Like others said, get another one. Even better, rescue a dog that needs help. I have found it to be incredibly rewarding.

Here is our newest rescue Gomer. He is from Istanbul. He was hit by a car and his hip was smashed. A rescue org found him limping around the streets and had him flown to the states. We fostered him and got his hip operation. Today, Valentines day, is his birthday. He just turned one year old. IMG_4065.JPG

Both those dogs were rescues. We only would consider a rescue.

My new av is the two we lost within a week of each other, Lexi, top, and Amber.
Got Lexi from Marion county animal shelter and we consider Amber a rescue too as the guy who had her was a real dick to his dogs.
Lex was maybe 30 pounds but fearless, Amber was a typical Golden, Nothing but love for everybody.

While I think of it, We actually picked up Lex at petsmart in the villages... Pay same amount as at the shelter but they gave us a 5 pound bag of chow and about $200 worth of coopins.

Mya passed away in November at some where around 15-16 years old. We miss her a lot, but our other dog Lady hasn't been the same since. We took her to vet for a check up a few weeks ago, and the vet didn't charge us for a nail trim and some glucosamine 'treats'. We think he felt bad for her.

That quote is so accurate for people and dogs.

Wow that's a long life. You may need to get Lady a new friend.

We adopted both from Puppy Hill Farm in Gainesville. At the time we adopted her in 2006, they said Mya was 2-4 years old. For a 50 pound dog that is old...she had a great life. I would love to get Lady a friend. We keep looking at the local humane society. Lady is old too. She could be 13-14 years old.

505EC0D3-EA29-4C25-B8EB-BD6F957C2510.jpeg So we, too, decided that our dog needed a companion. And by we, I mean, of course, my wife. Now I’m all for adopting or rescuing a dog locally, but my wife grew up with shelties, so, naturally we had to have shelties. For whatever reason, it’s impossible to find a breeder in Florida. Well, one that’s not insane, that is. So after a LOT of looking, we had to drive to Alabama for the first one, Thor. Then, after more searching....and even more searching... we had to drive to North Carolina for the new pup, Arya. Here they are together a few days ago.

Just picked up a 6yo female Goldie that was, I think, surrendered to Volusia animal services. One of my Jeep customers found her and brought her to us. My Border Collie isn't too pleased at the moment.
From what I gather they kept her in a hotel room and she got aggressive with a jogger so they gave her up. Needless to say she needs a diet as she's almost 100 pounds..... yup she's a porker.

edit: Gator by the sea..... Beautiful Shelties
