We adopted a lab mix from shelter about 5 years ago. She was a good dog (mostly) but she was just too much. Wife doesn't like dogs, dog was for my daughter but she is always busy or preoccupied, dog was always eating my son's chicken nuggets so I was the only one taking care of her at all. Luckily through her trainer we found a good family that seemed very excited to adopt her. While I miss her at times, I don't miss all of the other issues. In some ways it is like having a small child in perpetuity.

This is sort of Abby's story. I heard she was a service dog, Whoever had her lived, If I heard correctly, In a hotel room so she was cooped up. Anyway I guess a jogger ran past them and she got fairly aggressive... And was promptly taken to a shelter where they said " kill her".
All she needs is some correction, She dd bark at a bicyclist who rolled by Jeep at a stoplight. She got a real quick "NO". SHe loves people, Just not on a bicycle.

And she's a porker, 99.5 pounds, So both of us are going on a diet... My doc wasn't happy with my LdL or BP numbers.

I like how the lower growing mums are beginning to put on young foliage under the daffodils, brilliant floral composition

IMG_9593.JPG Lost our Ellie May today. Rescued her 8 years ago and the best $11 I ever spent. Loyal and loving. Got us through the loss of our other dog a few years back and has always been there for our son who is now 6. We have 2 others still but a big while in our hearts. She’s been my shadow since I got her.

So sorry for your loss. Ellie May looks like a sweet girl. I’m guessing that whole in your heart is huge. I know mine was.

Thanks and yes it is. She was one of a kind. Found her asleep in her food bowl at the shelter while the others were going crazy and she was my shadow from day one. It's one of those things where the little things are what you miss most and what makes your house feel smaller. It's going to take some adjusting. No dog under the dinner table for the first time since we got her, not filling her bowl when we feed our other two, her not being there for bedtime story, her not making sure she greeted us first, etc. the little things that are routine are the hardest to get through.

My sincere condolences. Having lost Mya a few months back I feel for you. It's amazing how much a dog is part of our lives. God Bless you for giving her an amazing home.

Poncho left the Cooter household this afternoon drifting away peacefully on Bear's mattress in the family room. He crawled under the fence one day 3 years ago and never left. He had been abandoned with numerous medical conditions, including being blind in both eyes from cataracts, congestive heart failure, and kidney disease. The hair loss was probably from a lack of nutrition. What I initially thought to be a birth defect turned out to be a tumor on his toe. The vet said he appeared to be maybe 12 years old. Other than that he checked out ok . We had the tumor removed and the vet prescribed medications for his CHF and his renal problems. He seemed happy with his new surroundings but his heart problems took a turn about a month ago.
Rest in peace little guy.
