A little difficult to collect data based on availability BTI -- before the internet. As sloppy as this collection may appear, I think it's on task.

That’s a tough call.

Wow.

I’m voting ‘98 but damn it’s close between the first three.

Alex.

Voting one because little was the only one I remember making tackles on the 79 team ;)

Marshall and Johnson on the edge, with all that speed, was absolutely sick.

Sad that Zo ended up having substance abuse issues.

Dustin Doe and AJ were better players than Hicks . But I agree with Alex it’s gotta be Mike P and that bunch .

Also 78 the 06 backers were a huge part of our title team and always seem to get left out of these discussions . No mas . A little love for Siler , Earl the pearl Everett and Brian Crum . Nobody could run on us that year and the run stuffers at backer are a big reason why .

Agree, a great bunch. We've had great linebackers over the years, more so than any other position on defense. The DB thing is more a late thing.

These are always tough because you can rate best on varying items of importance. While probably not the best trio of talent, I have to go with the only group that has a NC ring.

I voted for '08 simply due to seeing Spikes decleat Moreno. Of course seeing him knock two guys out cold in person in high school I knew the potential.

One group I loved was in 1990, Spurrier's first season: Odom, Paulk, Miles, Bartley

I’ll never forget the ‘98 UF team poster my mom had hanging in her office. I walked in and saw it and immediately said this team should win a title. They were scary to look at.

I consider that ‘98 team one of Spurrier’s best teams to not win it all(behind ‘93, ‘91, ‘95 and in front of ‘01).

So they’re my vote.

Spikes was the most gamechanging LB I've seen at UF. (Im too young to remember Marshall at UF. He was in the pro's by the time I remember.) Spikes was a unanamious 1st team AllSEC, a rare feat. Hicks and Stamper were just solid, not elite by any means.

Rutledge was elite, Preseaso All SEC, and All SEC 2nd team at the end. Peterson was actually better than Rutledge and SOS even mentioned on several occasions that he graded out as the best LB. His pro career seems to have validated that. Peterson was all SEC 2nd team. Kearse was a great pass rusher, and All SEC 1st team, but, frankly, terrible at everything else. I just dont thinknthe voters were ever going to vote for all the LBs from one team one the AllSEC 1st team. Tinerc lucked their way into a championship that year and it too influenced the voters.

I take 98 over 06, but if I could sub Spikes into that lineup, I'd do it in a heartbeat.

06 was a step back (Everett and Siler were 2nd team All SEC).

12 was just ok. Bostic was second team all SEC in one poll, not even listed on the other. Stats under Chimp were funky bc people knew they could beat us if they scored 14 and then just played safe.
