Here's the real trivia, name the last Cali recruit that was a star here.

Trace Armstrong went to high school in Alabama and then went to ASU before transferring to UF. I’ve lived in CA for 30 years and can’t come up with one CA kid that contributed at UF. I also have two kids in college right now and it would make absolutely no difference to me if either of them went to school in Oregon or Florida. They’re both a plane ride away and the 3 hour time zone complaint is pure nonsense.

What damn recovery?

Y'all realize UF just had a recruit who sexually assaulted 2 females (UF students?), involved police, and made national media and 90% of our attention has been on some transfer Cali bust.?? We need some better material associated with our FB program to dwell on.

Oh come on. We don't know all the facts here. I'm not blaming the staff for a damn thing without more information than some internet rumors on what all went down.

The players' response to Steele's leaving is most damming and convinces me that the JJ incident is a smoke screen. You didn't see the players calling out other transfers.

Exactly, Steele will be remembered throughout this whole ordeal and Jones is going to be forgotten. Jones needs to make sure Steele is on his Christmas Card list

I'm torn here.
As a fan I think it's ridiculous that he left because he didn't get his way. Stick with your commitment and if the coach tries to make it right, man up.

But.....as a parent/son I 100% understand. I wouldn't want my kid around the Jones situation and if we tried to get him out of there before something happened, then it's a very unfortunate "I told you so".

In the end it's done and over and time to move on.

Two years in and we look more disorganized and incompetent than with Butters.

Who knew that was even possible.

At this point, I am not sure how much we blame Mullen for this and how much we blame the AD. This seems to be a theme that spans the last 3 coaches (maybe even Urbs tenure, but obviously didn't slow him down). Butters, as much as I hate that fat shart farking fark ... complained about it and got roasted. I farking hate Foley and its influencing me into equating his culture at UF that football facilities aren't a needed resource into also seeing him as the guy that created a culture that a strong recruiting staff falls into the same pile. Seeds in my mind were planted here when someone posted that the AD peeps look at the recruiting staff as an entity that they "have no idea what the heck they do around here" and it just wreaks of Foley know-it-allism that has crippled the football program since he helped run Spurrier off. Im not saying Mullen doesn't share any blame in the current situation and it bothers me that he hasn't really raised any red flags ... though I suspect the right way to do it is behind closed doors with your AD and not in the public like that fat shark farking farker did. How much is disorganization and how much is the AD not supporting? Probably both? Or neither ... no clue, just tired of our recruiting not owning the state. Geesh ... its obvious Mullen is a friggin coach who can coach players into beating deeper benches 55yds away from him ... but he isn't going to be able to beat everyone that has a deeper bench than he does.

Urban had a lot of recruiting issues after the 2007 class. The 2010 class was a last great push, but we still had issues there too.

Yes, Foley is about 100% to blame for the facilities issue. But Mullen had "full control" over the hiring of the recruiting staff. And if he didn't, he should have read Saban's book, "Saban". When Saban took the Alabama job, in order to leave the Dolphins job, he told Mal Moore (AD) what he needed and wanted in regards to recruiting or he wasn't taking the job. He got EVERYTHING he wanted and EVERYTHING he asked for. That was Mullen's chance (and I'm sure he made some demands before he left MSU, but to what extent?). He hired a band of misfits to run the recruiting office, he brought over an adulterer from MSU, and the office continues to be disorganized. I know half this board is in the "you can't say anything bad about the coach" mode, but this is on Mullen. If he fixes it he could have a long tenure here....if he keeps pulling in 14th ranked classes, 7th in the SEC classes? Well, he probably won't last more than 5 or 6 seasons.
