Longtime sports talk radio host Steve Duemig dies

Tampa sports radio icon Steve Duemig succumbs to brain cancer. I can remember the first time I called in when he shared the mic with Scot Brantley way back in the '90s - early mid '90s, I think.

He was a blowhard, but a local legend.

RIP, Big Dog.

He cut me off several times, a real Jerk but sorry he's gone.

RIP Dog!

Hats off to you. He was abrasive and sometimes he bordered on shock jock but behind the scenes he was a good dude. Public persona did not match reality.

RIP Steve

I never liked him as a sports commentator. Wasn’t he the reason that the USF coach got canned? Sad to hear this though.

Golf and hockey were his passions. He wasn't my favorite and he wasn't the worst by any means. His job was to get listeners. It's been years since I listened to WDAE programming. This news takes me by surprise.

When you hit your 60s, you suddenly realize you're walking through a health minefield. RIP, Big Dog.
