I thought Will's article was interesting enough to share. He makes some very interesting observations.

Can Feleipe Franks be a top-tier QB in 2019? - Read and Reaction

The short version for all you TLDR types:

And that likely will be the story for 2019. If Franks doesn’t improve at all, his numbers will be slightly better because his coach has shown an ability to put him in the right position to succeed.

But if Franks can improve his accuracy downfield, particularly to his left hand side, he is going to take a major step forward.

Yeah ... think it is a bit myopic and short sighted to make a point that if his numbers are only slightly better it means he didn't really improve. He is probably going to be under a lot more pressure.

I doubt it as a passer but he does have one of the best group of WRs in the whole country. It was pretty crazy the difference in his passing numbers when playing the bums compared to the legit teams (wider difference than with most QBs). His % numbers also dropped off a lot when he actually had to throw the ball pass the line of scrimmage.

Mullen definitely did the best he could with him. I think he will improve a little but nothing spectacular.

Who can know? How to tell ahead? FF could realize that he can tear up opponents with real running dashes from the QB position. More time experience should put increased accuracy in his throws. Good WRs + playcalls of DM then adds to FF results.

You do know that myopic and shortsighted mean the same thing right?

That would be like me saying he’s left-handed and he also uses his left hand.

Dinks and dunks to Perine and Krull in space with an occasional 15yd pass to Grimes and Jefferson is all that is needed in the passing game.

We have weapons galore on offense that don't require a killer Oline....

However, utilizing the weapons will require quick thinking and decisive actions by the QB. Something that Franks struggles with.

Franks has the physical size and the arm. What has been the issues with Franks has been his maturity level, self-discipline and work ethic. He is another year older. I have seen him mature over the time he's been at Florida. He does seem to be becoming more coachable particularly at times last year. He started doing things more the way the coaches wanted things done. If he wants to be top tier he's going to have to put in the time studying the playbook and film. He's going to have to listen to his coaches. He's either going to do it or not. If he respects the coaches enough I think he will do it.
