Nick Pogue is starting Game 1 Sunday.

Makes sense. In his last 23 innings, he’s only allowed 2 earned runs. He’s allowed 1 in his last 15 innings. He’s on fire right now. Let’s hope it continues today.

Pogue looking sharp. We need the bats to come alive because we know the bullpen will give up some runs.

Jordan Butler inserted in the lineup for Fabian to add punch to the offense. So what's he do his first time up? Strikes out looking with runners on 2nd & 3rd, 1 out. Dallas Baptist can swing the bats. Pogue's about done in the 4th, having given up 2 HR's in the inning and now a walk and 2 singles. We go from a 2-1 lead to a 4-2 deficit. O'Sullivan left him in too long because he has no faith in the bullpen. But Crisp now in. Not looking good. May need 10+ runs to win.

Pogue still looks promising. But, he is done. He lost control in the 4th and everything went bad. Fitting for the entire season with our pitching.

I'm over this season. I'm ready to see which of our current players and high school commitments get drafted and sign pro contracts. Then we can look at the makeup of the team next year and see what it will look like.

How many and what current players do you think will potentially go in the draft?

Don't know why they have Dalton listed twice. I've heard other players than McConnell could be a late 1st round, early 2nd round pick and that Langworthy & Dalton will be much lower and may return for their senior years. We'll find out starting tonight. Also, 2 of our high school commits are expected to go early in the 1st round, so they won;t be on campus. Maybe a couple of more in the class go early enough to keep them out of Gainesville.

Thanx for posting Ocala, but what a head scratcher. I was told by many of the scouts at the games that as a position player, you have to have A plus in one of like 5 categories. I see no way Dalton gets drafted anywhere near the top. I feel the same about Langworthy, although I think Langworthy is a good baseball player, but does nothing exceptional. Dalton is an average player at best. McConnell will go high but I won;t be sorry to see him leave. I was underwhelmed by his defense. and whatta you know. a Dyson appearance in the last game and the guy looked like Nolan Ryan for 1 inning. The entire year he looked worse than Meg Ryan on the mound. what an arm, but what a head case?

I know MLB drafts primarily on potential, but I agree with you. Dalton really struggles hitting curve balls and sliders and Langworthy doesn't seem like a 2nd round pick to me. Dyson does have great stuff, but has been a head case the last 2 years. Who knows? We'll find out tonight. I was hoping Langworthy & Dalton would come back next year and be Captains. And as good a year as McConnell has had at the plate, he has a lot of growing to do on defense. But if he goes, I think Acton & Pena will handle SS & 3B just fine, unless a superstar freshman comes in and takes one of the positions away.

I just looked at mlb.com/draft/2019 and McConnell and Dyson are the only 2 current Gators listed in the Top 200 prospects for tonight.

Now that sounds a little more reasonable. Dyson on his 3 week stretch in his frosh year and McConnell on his bat this year and he was a highly regarded prospect out of HS. Langworthy can do a lot of things but is not + in any of them nor does he suck at any of them. Dalton can run a little and has a little power, but is not consistent and strikes out a lot and is not a great defender. Of the two, Langworthy is a better all around player and I could see him leaving even if drafted after round 10. I am not sure he could raise his stock that much with another year.

I find Nelly interesting being that he was not selected last year. heck i thought everyone eligible got selected. He hits better than Dalton but can't run, can't throw b/c of his shoulder and never plays D. Maybe a 40th round pick but who knows. Based on him swinging at ball 4 the other day with the bases loaded on a 3-2 pitch and the ball 5 feet off the plate I am not so sure.

Brady McConnell taken with the 44th pick in the MLB draft by the KC Royals. That's the 3rd pick in the 2nd round. KC took a SS as the 2nd overall pick as well. Our top high school prospect, Riley Greene, was the 5th overall pick by the Tigers. However, LHP Hunter Barco, a projected Top 15 pick from Jax Bolles, had not been picked yet through the 2nd round. Maybe he got the word out that he's going to college?! No other Gators picked so far.

Apparently we made out real well w/ Barco and Matthew Allan not getting picked. Both supposedly put the word out they wanted A LOT of money to skip college. The question now is if these kids come to UF, where they'll have to wait 3 years to get drafted again, or go JUCO so they can get drafted again next year. Looking good though, this recruit class is one of Sully's best.

This writer thinks Barco and Allan priced themselves out of the market and will end up at UF.

2019 MLB First-Year Player Draft: Who are the best players available on Day 2?

RHP Matthew Allan, Seminole HS (Florida): Allan was the top high school pitcher in the draft class. He has everything teams want in a pitching prospect, including power stuff (fastball, curveball, changeup), good control, and size (6-foot-3 and 210 lbs.). Allan is committed to Florida and has reportedly set a $4 million asking price. Among the players in this section, I think he's the most signable, but it's still likely he winds up on campus at this point.

LHP Hunter Barco, The Bolles School (Florida): The best high school lefty in a draft class short on power arms, Barco shows three above-average pitches and good velocity. His lower arm slot (think Madison Bumgarner) creates command issues at times, though experience can help fix that. Barco is committed to Florida, an excellent player development program, and should he wind up in school, he figures to come out as a possible top-10 pick in three years.

Matthew Allan was drafted by the Mets with the 89th pick in the middle of Round 3. Pick value is $667,900. What will he do?
