The Toronto Maple Raptors have the all-time best Golden State Warriors on the brink, 3-1.

Toronto will get a Durant asterisk next to its first title.

Nope. The best ability is availability. Golden State is getting beaten soundly, especially from a defensive standpoint. The Raptors have two former Defensive Players of the Year (Kawhi, Gasol), a 6’9 wing with a 7’3 wingspan (Siakam), an elite rim protector (Ibaka), and two stingy veteran guards (Lowry, Green). Durant would score a lot if healthy, but he had 51 points in a loss to these Raptors earlier this season. Quite frankly, the Raptors are just the worst possible matchup for The Warriors and it’s showing.

Also, Kawhi might be the best basketball player in the NBA now. He’s on the verge of breaking up two potential 3 peats. Pretty remarkable!

I’m not generally an NBA fan, though my son is. I’ve been watching the finals with him and have to admit it’s been entertaining.

Toronto has been hands down just a better team than GS. GS isn't playing with a full deck obviously with injuries to 4 main players(KD, Klay, Iggy, and Looney) but that is just how it goes. It has been a great finals though. The Raps have this thing in the bag and Kawhi is the Finals MVP. Next question is will he stay in Toronto or go elsewhere?

There's a reason teams rarely three-peat. The idiots in the media handing the warriors the trophy look stupid yet again.

Yes a long season to the finals every year can be draining, and paying for those stars leaves not enough for their backups. I won't be sorry to see them lose, but if the Raptor players start leaving that would annoy me.

The raptors will be in rebuild mode immediately after the season because Leonard is leaving. He wants to go out west. They sold everything for a title. It'll be a long, long time before they compete again.

No problem with that. Win when you can.

Agree. You take it. But I will add this. There’s something great about an organic build. Not sure if you’re a Heat fan as well, but assuming you are, how much better as ‘06 than any of the ‘10-13 seasons.

I know Toronto would be fine if he leaves, and I’m sure KL will win elsewhere. But if he happens to win a title against a giant like GS, how much better would it be to see him put and keep a new team on the map. Be Toronto’s MJ/Wade/Duncan/etc and win multiple titles over a career. He has that type of work ethic and overall aura about him.

I know it won’t happen, but I’d love to see that. This concept of constantly moving around and making all kinds of cliched moves is nauseating. If there’s a single player capable of being bigger than himself, it’s Leonard.

In KL's defense, he isn't a merc like Lebron. Something went bad with the spurs and he wanted out. All indications are he wants to move to hometown LA.
