Dan Thompson (@DK_Thompson) tweeted at 11:14 AM on Mon, Jun 24, 2019:
The article misses the entire point of why FSU struggled last year: they looked wholly unprepared. They were out coached in at least eight games and looked lost nearly every game of the season.

That’s on the current coaching staff - not on academic issues.

This.
I've seen flag football teams that showed more signs of competent coaching.
And this.

Wait. Never mind. FSU fans need to trust the coaches.

From the BR article, made me laugh out loud:

After months of locker room issues last season and even, Taggart admits, dysfunction among the coaching staff, rock bottom arrived in the season finale against rival Florida.

FSU needed a win to salvage its bowl streak, and instead it all fell apart in the second half of a 41-14 loss that snapped a five-game winning streak over the Gators and gave the Noles their first losing season in more than four decades.

At one point in the fourth quarter, Florida safety Chauncey Gardner-Johnson lined up to defend the FSU offense and noticed the unit was a player short. He turned and motioned to the FSU sideline that the Seminoles were missing a player.

A receiver ran on the field, and then Francois threw incomplete into double coverage. A microcosm of the season.

The FSU staff wasn’t nearly as aggressive as other programs in hosting 2020 recruits early in the summer.

FSU did not elect to bring any official visitors in this summer, a strategy that may pay off later, but for the second year in a row, puts FSU in a position where they will depend on flipping commits from other programs late in the cycle.

While the FSU staff effectively decided to sit June out by not hosting or pressing to get the majority of their 2020 targets on campus, there were recruits taking visits to other programs. And as is usually the case — visits produced commitments.

From the 247 article @Musclepug posted.

What a complete dumpster fire wiLLLLLLLie is. I never thought I’d see a coach try to outshyte Butters.

Is no one bothered that all this piling-on may jinx FSU's failure into success?

With Blackelwain running the show, failure is a certainty. The only question is how fast he fails. Right now, I’m worried he won’t be around. We need him to stumble into some wins next season.

Eck out some wins on their worst oponents ... just enough to keep them thinking they see a light at the tunnel's end.

The best we can hope for is that they win 7-8 games that schedule looks like they’ll be lucky to be bowl eligible

Let him win 5, then 7, then back to 5, then 6, then 7, then 8, then 5 again, on and on. Those 7 years should promote our recruiting back on top.

Working through the recent nole247 podcast with Josh Newberg. I’m in a panic. They are painting a bad picture with the players blaming the coaches at the end of last season. If players are already pointing fingers, another 5-7 season could get them to quit. Blackelwain would have to be fired then.

Worst case scenario is willie gets fired 5-6 months from now. Considering the giant financial hole they’ve dug, who can they AFFORD to hire? Who can they ATTRACT? They’ll have to defy the odds and catch lightning in a bottle with a relatively unknown coach to turn that situation around. They very likely will have to endure a similar “lost decade” and it could last longer.

Hey, a man can dream, can’t he???

Bill Connelly’s stats don’t look great for the clowns. Here are his win probabilities for them with a link to the longer article.

https://247sports.com/college/flori...-season-Boise-State-Willie-Taggart-133143243/

Boise State - .49
UL Monroe - .90
UVA - .51
L’ville - .82
NC State - .66
Clemson - .11
Wake - .62
Cuss - .69
Miami - .49
BC - .67
Alabama St - 1.00
UF - .17

FSU truly is in shambles. Plus, Connelly has Miami about as good as Boise St.

This works out to approximately predicted 7 wins.

Go Willlllllie. You can get do it. The drive to 7 to save his job. Show that progress (though I fear he’s so bad the record in those .66 area games could make this look like last year).

Clearly those whiners are Jimbo’s recruits. Willie needs more time to bring in his players. Changing a bad culture doesn’t happen over night. Nulls fans need to be patient and trust the coaches.

Very optimistic article. And the comments are extremely pumperish. Personally I don’t see what makes them better than they were last season. Where is the infusion of talent coming from? Their O-line in all probability will be worse and they have serious depth issues. They have talent on D and at some skill positions on O (Akers in particular), but to get to better than 7-5 is going to require a lot of breaks going their way.
