This has nothing to do with sports, but since I own the place, I can brazenly flout the rules and promote whatever the hell I want.

I've been interested in restoring old items for years. I can watch a TV show or go on YouTube and watch videos for hours of people taking something beat to hell and making it look brand new. Some of you got some taste of this in my thread of my Corvette restoration, in which I spend literally thousands of hours in a hot garage cleaning, buffing, and painting damn near every part on that car. As a result I have a car that is worth about half of what I have into it, but the education was priceless.

To me, chronicling a restoration with video is valuable, because long after you've moved on to other projects you can revisit the tape and enjoy it all over again. You can get that satisfaction of seeing the hideous become the beautiful. So I figured that since I was going to be taping these project anyway, why not have a YouTube channel? You never know where it could lead.

So, as usual I'm asking for the support of the membership. I've picked up a few old rusty items at a flea market lately and have several projects going on at once. I just completed my first video to my brand new channel, and have embedded it below. If you have some time, take a look. And if you like it, like it. And if you want to make a comment, make a comment. And if you want to subscribe, that would also really help me out.

Thanks everyone! Discuss.

I admire your shamelessness in your self-promotion and your willingness to admit your interest in other men's junk.

Enjoyed it, Ox. I have to admit that when I clicked on it I didn't expect to finish watching it but I did. It was very well put together and straight forward. Lack of sound bugged me though. Some music? I dunno ... but my ears were left out.

You'd be amazed how many more people prefer no sound over annoying background music in these videos.

I watched it all the way through as well. As @neteng said, it needs sound. It could be music or you explaining more what you are doing. If you add music, be careful. That gets copyright strikes more than anything else.

No chance of that happening. The few things that actually require an explanation are subtitled. Let’s give the viewers some credit.

Maybe just the natural noise of what you are doing. Power tools being used ... the truck rolling back and forth. I dunno ... I guess it is much cleaner without any sound and get what you are saying. I definitely feel like there was no easier way to show what you did than how you did it. I could care less about a beat up tonka dump truck toy but I watched the entire video. So that is pretty much saying the video was worth watching.

I get your point but it actually is not possible. I’m in an extremely hot garage with heavy fans blowing. It would drown anything out.

Insurance sales down?
I must admit I too was curious.

I found your straight forward approach scintillating. White gloves would play in with the meme look, maybe wear a bowler hat and a Chaplin mustache for the occasional headshot to make yourself more camera friendly. How are you able to remember where all of the parts go? I bet you could market your skills with an organization like the Salvation Army.

Ox doesn't want you to hear the sound of the Auburn fight song he keeps on a loop in the workshop.

I dont have a youtube account or I would subscribe. Maybe I should. I build bikes in my spare time and am constantly youtubing stuff to help me navigate the proprietary standards from one brand to another.

Hey Ox ... I am actually going to start a bike build project real soon which will have me strip the bike down to a naked frame then put a new finish on it. How about I just drop off the frame and you do it to make a video. :fistbump:

Haha. If I had the equipment for something as large as a bike frame I’d be happy to help. Alas, I’m only set up for smaller projects.

This is the kind of support that blows my mind on here.

I think cooter would make some kind of crack even if I had started a thread about attending my mothers funeral.
