I just was wondering if anyone else has been recently. This was my first visit back since the hurricane and while many people will tell you it is well on its way back(it is) I couldn't believe the devastation that still remains. I've seen the post Irma pics and it is definitely...slowly returning to normal. St John is my happy place...and we took a boat to Honeymoon Beach and you dock at the old Caneel Bay resort...what's left of it. It is ruins. Deserted and destroyed. My buddy got married there 6 years ago. Used to be $1000 a night. It was obliterated. Another favorite spot of mine was Cinnamon Bay. It was known as the best camping spot in the US as it's a national park campground right on the water. We walked down to a beautiful but empty beach...a flat screen TV still on the path down to the water.

Crazy.

I went to St. Thomas w/ the wife in March. I had never been and I can confirm: it is a sh*thole. There are some nice parts, but for the most part I was very, very unimpressed. We took the car ferry over to St. John for a day trip. St. John is nicer, but when you get off the ferry you're sort of in the main town....and again: sh*thole.

The hurricane did a lot of damage, but from what I could tell it was probably a sh*thole even before the hurricane. Very surprising. The locals don't seem to care. Food is super, super expensive. Not many good beaches, snorkeling spots (you'd be better off taking a dive trip or going on a charter/snorkeling cruise).

We still had a good time and there's some beautiful views. I probably wouldn't go back unless it was for work (free). I do want to check out the BVI though.

I haven't been to The USVI in 25 years, but the wife and I were planning a trip until the hurricane hit it.

Wow. I'm surprised depending on where you went. Gotta stay on St John. Not St Thomas. Two different worlds. BVI is awesome...Jost Vandyke, Tortola and Virgin Gorda. 20190426_121419.jpg 20190426_124320.jpg 20190426_124238.jpg

T Rev. I’ve been to St. Thomas a few times and even stays there for about 8 months, but haven’t really been to St. John’s. Why do you like it better?

It's epic. It still has that island feel of 20 years ago. It is much less populated. Most of the island is a national park. People fall in love with St John and go back and back and back. Took Mrs Rex finally, who prefers Europe, and she absolutely loved it. It's quaint. People we met at the beach yelled our names when we walked into the restaurant at dinner...good times. Look...theres barely anyone at this beach and it is a popular one. You can drive and goto a beach and you are the only ppl there. It's calming. Hard to put into words. 20190426_124318.jpg
