6'2" 175? Trying to run the ball 20-30 times in Mullins offense? No thanks.
I know some others won't like this, but even EJ is a little iffy at his size. The up-the-middle QB/FB run package ain't for everybody. Not trying to start any schytt, but I watch the admittedly limited video of EJ, and I can't help wondering how well he can execute that off-tackle stuff - not to mention how well he'll hold up to the pounding he's going to take. Of course DM will find a way to take full advantage of EJ's abilities, but I wonder if he'll alter the "QB as FB" component in order to improve EJ's prospects for avoiding serious injury.

I don't se EJ as a up the middle type guy but think he can be effective faking the run up the middle and taking the ball around the end. His speed should create some yards in the outside option game as well.

6"2.5", 189 verified at the Opening. Nothing that Savage cannot fix. His shuttle is unreal, 4.02 sec. His father is the long term coach of Longview HS.
Feleipe Franks was 6'5.5", 210 out of HS.

I’d like to see DM adjust his offense with EJ as the edge threat and Perine and Pierce as the power runner up the gut.

He was 240 at the Open. Personally, I think he’d be a really good get.

It's odd because LSU, Georgia, and our Gators all seem to be standoffish with the kid. I makes me wonder if there is a character red flag of some kind. I could believe it was just our staff not being on the ball, but for corndogs and ugly to both seemly be putting in no effort makes me thing something is up. I guess we'll see.

Creyer ran that RB inside threat/QB outside threat option w Alex Smith and flopped it for Tebow and the smurfs.

I really have no issues with trusting CDM with how he molds the offense to his personnel. He has proven to be very good at it. Chris Leak, Tim Tebow, Das Prescot, even Fitzgerald and now Franks have done great with his coaching, strategy and play calling. So I dont think I really worry too much if he has to scheme around EJ or Trask.

Its the recruiting that scares me ... not the coaching.

I’m less pissed about recruiting than I was. It’s improving and it seems they have been adding staff.
So I was DEFCON 1 with butters. DEFCON 2 with Mullen at first. Now I may drop that to DEFCON 3.

I think I understand you and agree with you ... but think your DEFCONs are backwards. DEFCON5 is highest and DEFCON1 is lowest.

EDIT: Nevermind ... I think I got that wrong.

You definitely got it wrong. Go back and watch “War Games” (with Matthew Broderick) to confirm.
