Wow, this is a crazy story! Talk about a freak accident. I never would have listed getting shot by a dog as a realistically possible way of dying, or nearly dying in this case. Opine if you like.

There is a reason you dont chamber a round in a sporting rifle or shotgun for storage, travel etc.

This isnt a "freak accident", it is gross negligence. At least he shot himself instead of someone smarter than him that didnt deserve it.

Donk you missed the paragraph. First the dog loaded the tube. It took a bit of time as he has no thumbs. No one noticed while he was doing this. Then he stood on the stock and racked a round with this teeth. Then by complete accident disengaged the safety that was certainly engaged and then pulled the trigger. Freak accident.
