Look Im bsing a little bit. Id Iike a director to be someone who has been there done that, but especially in recruiting some of this is just sweatmill work, parsing film and making contracts.

Saban's secret "process" is just having LOTS of bodies and giving them relatively small amounts of work. You dont have to be an allstar to handle that. Many of the heaps of dozens or hundreds (depending on who you believe) working behind the curtain have unremarkable resumes.

Seriously, Im just glad we are hiring. Hope we do a bunch of it.

I wish we hired more Gators, but we seem compelled to hire MAC or Sunbelt for some reason, this is true even in UAA/Gator Boosters. Id prefer people who are loyal to the school first.

Thank you for expressing your actual opinion. Again, I agree completely with that assessment.

I don't know which it was all three were letgo about the same time, even if one was just officially "suspended". Two of the spots were open the whole time regardless.

I just dont understand how we allow ourselves to go through recruiting season two coaches down..
or recruiting staff three down (out of three) for nearly six months. Banmer could be three down out of their 40-50 and not notice it but when you're already operating with a teeny tiny staff, it is inexcusable.

Despite making some undeniable progress, the FB program is still far from being anything like a smoothly running machine. My personal take is that it's either harder than it looks to find the kind person you described earlier, or we are still encountering serious resistance/lethargy from within. A point you've alluded to, on more than one occasion, is that the "Foley induced fugue state" that has crippled the FB program for so long has not yet been fully dispelled - a fact born out by our continuing subpar recruiting situation/results .

I strongly agree with that assessment. DM is, admittedly, not an elite recruiter - and likely never will be. But if the impediments that seem to be slowing the "great rebuild" can be pushed aside, he should do quite well. But if this clumsy, toddler-stage BS doesn't end soon, it may well be too late for DM, or anyone else for that matter. We truly are at a crossroad - whole heartedly compete for championships, or get off the phukkin pot.

Remember the DT from IMG that committed to us then flipped to FSU....then didn't qualify, Shaver Manuel?

Here's an update:

I seem to remember him being a troll about it too. Heh, heh.

Well, how hard is it to find the resume of "used to be a student as Bammer and has six months experience in the Sunbelt"?

This isnt exactly hitting it out of the park. Hell, it isnt even a bunt. We basically hired a student intern, not even one of the assistant directors at another successful elite recruiting program (who you would assume would have contacts in the southeast).

If we are hiring a student or any Sunbelters it should not take more than a day.

Im guessing a lot of people were offered the job and told us no, or no for the salary and budget offered, just like when we started out trying to hire Oregon's WR coach to fix our problems and ended up w FIU's RB coach to coach WRs. Easy to read between the lines.

Bottom line being more of the "do it on the cheap or just let it slide" crap that we've all come to know too well.

The list of recruits that will be in attendance is a veritable who's who of elite talent. This event has really become a major attraction in Florida's recruiting efforts. Expect a few commitments to come from FNL.

There's a picture in that tweet thread of two really muscular dudes. I think one may be Chris Bleich. Wow.

The UAB director of recruiting operations? I assume that he wasn't the first choice?

Wait I was wrong. 1 year AND 7 months experience per Linkedin.

This is our director. Apparently the people we hire under him will be even less.

Does anyone really think we are serious about fixing recruiting?

Honestly, I'm fine with it. I think sometimes these younger kids (25 year olds are "kids" to people our age) will do a very good job. Anyone expecting us to hire Alabama, UGA's, and Ohio State's top guy and then have them bring their entire staff with them is a f'ing idiot. I expected somebody from a non-SEC or P5 program (unless it was a Wake Forest, Pitt, or other lower tier program). Unless they want to move for geographical reasons or a fat, fat raise these jobs are probably very comparable. So I'm fine with a young guy running the show who has the background he does. We also added a few more staffers to fill the openings, and I'm hoping we can get a few more. My guess is this kid is going to set up a similar format that he had at Alabama - i.e. he's going to have a group of interns/student assistants to help him do what he did at Alabama. I like it. At least we're following a successful model vs. doing what he did at Miss State and/or what Butters was doing.

Bammer isn't relying on students much. They have many dozens of hired staff cutting film, making contacts, seeing kids live, etc.

Im guessing we continue doing things like we always have, three staffers or so. In fact, I'd bet body parts that we do continue doing it the "Florida Way".

It would have been nice to have hired at least an assistant director from one of the elite programs. No doubt we werent buying away a director and especially not his entire staff, though some thought the kid at OSU might look at UF. I doubt he glanced for a second.

We have earned our reputation.

Well, I hope you're wrong...but until proven otherwise, you're probably right (unfortunately).
