Propaganda piece but I'm glad they are feeling the pressure and felt the need to make it.

Quoting the cost of that lockerroom re-paint just makes it worse. I would have used the excuse that we aren't in there much and wanted to focus on football facility or something.

And yet....

“We want our kids to have nice things. We are trying to attract really talented young people,” Stricklin said. “We think the fact they have an opportunity to get an education from a top-10 public university should be a huge factor in the decision. But a lot of things go into those decisions, which includes how has this school invested in the space I’m going to be using when I come to school here?”

:smh:

Really? We don't need facilities bc we are a "top 10 public" (stupid comment, no employer gives a damn if you went public or private and gives you extra credit bc you are just public school grad).

"Yet at the same time, when a school put resources into a locker room like LSU’s, criticism is sure to follow."

LOL.... we sure as hell missed that landmine again. We've been missing that landmine for forty years.

"I don't want to be hasty."

Yes, he said that.

Complete denial or indifference at play here. My guess is its the latter. Just because we think being a top 10 public university is important and has value, that doesn't mean recruits do. You gotta know what matters to the people you're selling to. The simple fact that Bama consistently lands the elite of the elite pretty much confirms that academic accolades mean nothing to top football recruits.

Im hoping it is just extreme financial conservatism.

I mean, did you think we could sink to a 4 win team? Or a team that can't land a single 5*? Or any of the top talent IN OUR OWN DAMN STATE?

I sure didn't.

Nope. Never in my worst nightmares did I think we’d sink to two 4 win seasons in a 5 year span, but we did. Sure hope it wasn’t by design.

Build it and they will come. At least that's what I learned here.

Build it is not all that is required of course. Need all of everything.

Coaching, support staff, prep, facilities, stipends, if we are going to compete.

“If you don’t do it, you get criticized. What’s happened around here, Florida’s been criticized in the past because there’s a thought that they have not invested like they should in facilities. It’s one of those you’re not going to make everybody happy. Someone is going to be critical either way."

Bullsh1t. Anybody that complains about money spent on football doesn't have a leg to stand on. That was CYA out of Striclin.

I didn't realize it's been 4 years. Wow, it seems everything that's been done so far was already in place or in motion before he got here. I guess he's responsible for the 1 year delay (so that the baseball stadium could get built)?

We're working on the 2020 recruit class right now....but the first class that will arrive on campus and be able to use it their entire tenure is the 2022 class? Yeah, that AD's office is right up there with the best of them!

When these big recruits are considering what colleges to go to, I think academics comes in absolutely last on their list. Some of them probably don't think about it at all. The academic part is nothing but a necessary evil.

I know a very involved Bull Gator who sits on multiple committees and knows our UAA staff and some coaches on a legit first name basis. When I raise facility frustrations for football he acts like I’m insane and there is a mission to keep up all sports. It is crazy how really smart people can be so easily duped by access that they’ve bought into this nonsense. UF has never had a few large enough, vocally upset boosters when it comes to pressing the AD. The people with power were the ones running the “Foley is the greatest” campaign.

Anyway, I had hope a few years ago that Strickland was a fund raiser and understood the need to improve football facilities immediately. The conversations I’ve had with someone close enough to make changes, but unwilling to see the desperation of the need, only further reveals it’s just not happening and there isn’t really a feeling of much pressure on this point in the UAA.

Strickland’s comments are just more pandering and is very Muschamp like in his disdain for Gators’ fans that do really want to see us great again and know what that means.
