FSU DT Ja'len Parks has been medically disqualified

BRADENTON, Fla. -- Florida State Seminoles redshirt sophomore Ja'len Parks has been medically disqualified. Head coach WiLLLLLLLie Taggart informed the media of the news on Tuesday morning before practice. Taggart says Parks will remain on as a student at the University and work toward receiving his degree.

Parks sustained ankle injury about a year ago and will no longer be able to continue his football career. The 6-foot-3, 290-pound interior defensive lineman tried to come back from the injury, but doctors have advised him to shut it down.

Parks signed with FSU in 2017 out of Newberry High School, along with teammate Cory Durden. Parks was a four-star prospect, the No. 9 ranked DT in the country and the 140th best player overall, according to the 247Composite Rankings.

As a Seminole, Parks did not record any stats. He redshirted in 2017 and missed the entire season in 2018.
One of their best defensive players is a guy who has zero stats, redshirted in '17 and missed all of '18? If you are correct, it's going to be a very long season for them.

Let me get this straight = Wiltee's laying groundwork that injuries derailed this season 'cause they lost Parks major contributions?

Sounds reasonable enough to me. Willie would have turned it around this season had it not been for the injuries. Clearly not his fault and he needs at least one more season, if not two or three.

@Andrew_Ferrelli: FSU just gotta close off practice at this point

Wow. He got his ass kicked by a sled.

After he held blatantly. :lmao2:

And it's a senior tackle who transferred in from directional Michigan WHO IS SLATED TO BE THEIR STARTING LEFT TACKLE. Too bad, looks like just the sort of talent Butters loves.

Wonder what the odds are that Blackmon will still be healthy by the time they walk into BHG. Less than 50-50? He's a tough kid, but he could get one heck of a pounding this year - the Clemson game could be particularly ugly.

Elbows out, head down, hands around the back. You could go to any high school football practice in America and expect to see that technique out of the nerdy freshman tuba player who thought he’d improve his image by playing a little tackle football.

Do you believe that is a starting Clowntown OT?

That has to be a camp or something, right?

Tashan Reed of "The Athletic" broke down Taggelwain U's depth chart on offense.

1. Blackman will be the starter. He's gained a lot of weight. He is 6'5, 190-195. :lol2:

2. The o-line has yet to show it is better than last year.

3. I may be nuts about this observation. But, Reed wrote that a big problem with the running game last season was the backs didn't know where to run. What? Is that their fault? Or, does your staff suck at teaching?

4. Offensive line coach, Randy Clements, said they will be running multiple linemen in every game. They have to have a 2 deep. This tells me they are in over their heads. They don't even have legit starters on the o-line. They want to play 7-8 guys every game?

That’s going to be nothing but a recipe for disaster again this season and yet I still think they reach a bowl game and willie keeps his job due to a albeit unbalanced recruiting class it will be top 10-15

So does the lack of a playbook help the RB's know where to run, hurt the RB's to know where to run, or has no impact? Asking for a friend.

2. When did Andreu start covering their camp as well?

3. I believe it. Experienced, 5* backs who've been playing football since the 1st grade forget how to look for and run through holes all the time. Wouldn't shock me if some of the 5* defenders were initially reaching for flags instead of going for the tackle. Total, mental reset is more common than you think.
