As I understood CDM post game, he said specifically that he called the play, and, moreover, he specifically wanted to put the game in Franks' hands. ????????
there's a pretty strong argument to be made that McElwain is smarter than Mullins.

he wanted a quick late score to hide his ineptitude.

I want to give this a face palm and like.
1. I love having an aggressive coach who uses film study to exploit the other team’s weaknesses. That one play call is going to screw with every team on our schedules game planning. It was brilliant. Face palm.
2. Supposedly they saw something and decided to go for the jugular. Problem is... running out the clock wins just as well, is way safer, and doesn’t require trusting Franks. Too aggressive and trusts Franks too much. Like.

Christ Seabee. re: 1: That early in the game? On our 28? On our first possession of the season? With an O-line that's...well...I don't know how to describe them. Risk reward? I'm all for making the bad guys think. Pull it sometime, someday, some game. Not then. It was the first game of the season what film did they have to study? Are you going to tell me he was going on Many's old tendencies when he coached for Mullen? We'll have to agree to disagree on that one.

Probably watching last year’s film and saw the same formation. And I mean.... it worked, right? Obviously matched whatever they studied and worked out pretty well. Took a whole lot of people by surprise

I wasn't the one that made those stupid play calls.
I’m going to tag old @Slevin. That way, when he makes his annual “stupid things that donkey says” thread, this can top the list.

No ones saying it was a beautifully called game or anyone should be happy but you’re next level stupid right now. Take a deep breath dude. All things considered (Franks, suspensions, lack of recruiting/depth, improved but not great roster talent from a 4-8 team, 4-1 turnover ratio, 3rd and Grantham, too many boneheaded penalties to count, etc.), we still won.

yeah probably Slev claiming it was dumb to complain that we were losing five out of the recruiting class, when Twitter told him that was all wrong, that is still in that thread right?

even slevin has given up on worshipping Mullins and making excuses for his recruiting and program status.

if you want to continue with "three star whisperer 2.0 is going to fix it all" because of his great coaching ability then making excuses when he does this **** nine times a year, good luck with that.

I’m not saying you can’t make a highlight reel of @Slevin ’s promises of future recruiting success... :giggle:

Geez Donk, you are in rare form today. This is some world class dumping, even grading on the donk curve. No, I don't think you are being realistic, nor does anybody else.

Of course a coaches decisions will impact the game - both wins and losses. And right now, that’s led to 11 wins and 3 losses. You implying that last year, with Franks at QB, we could’ve been better if only Mullen wasn’t here? Certainly seemed like an upgrade from the year prior when MacNuss was leading Franks to 4 wins.

I will leave it at this. I am not implying anything, but you are making inferences. I simply form my views in the present as they are happening and not on what actually takes place. I am not taking away the record as it is what it is, what I am saying is we are not down 21-3 at Vandy if Cousin Eddie does not call a RPO on 2nd down and 1 from the VU 5 yard line after we just ripped off a 9 yard run and had a beautiful drive going. Knowing Lerch is a mental midget and wants the accolades he is going to pull the ball (which he did) and tried a little dink pass over the Dline where there was total traffic leading to an INT. Why even go there? If you want to even entertain a throw there(why?) then throw a fade or back shoulder, don;t call one where 18 guys are within 3 yards of the ball? Know your personell and how they think. Take 1st play of 2nd half against LSU. Great call nets about 50 yards. Even if not complete, nothing wrong with trying that with lots of field to play with. Next play, allows Lerch the thought of sending a guy down the middle where the field has now shrunk and what happens? INT. You have to micromanage Lerch b/c he is a bad play waiting to happen when asked to actually read the field. (See UGA). I could go on about how they refused to mush-rush the UK QB last year and just allowed him to constantly leave the pocket and either throw or run. That was exactly what he wanted, yet our staff never could catch on. So not saying the total record would have been better and no NussNuts sucked donkey penus, but I am saying the Cousin Eddie could do a better job by not out thinking himself.

The famous donkey edit. Decided you needed to add a couple paragraphs later, huh?

Hey jackass, I don’t like his recruiting. It needs to improve or it’ll be his downfall. But you’re way off the reservation at this point. You’re ready to fire the guy because you stupidly believed our offense would be humming out of the gate and you also believed that a defensive head coach who’s well regarded by just about everyone except you wouldn’t be able to stop the offense that was led by Franks, a quasi-Driskel level QB. Take a break. Sober up.

You don’t think he was responsible for the adjustments that led to the wins you just mentioned? Wouldn’t that be the very definition of “game day” coach?

Thank God for Gator Chatter. Skimming through the rest of the internet the "trust the coaches" crowd has come out in full force. It's always the same comments through Zook, Muschamp and Mcelwain. "Yeah it was ugly but we won. Haters need to shut up". Or "Go get on another team's band wagon if you want to complain". I can't take it! It makes me want to pull out my hair. It's always the same dumbasses too. Like they forgot they were saying the same **** for the other loser coaches. But it's different this time right?

If Donk maintains his present stance toward CDM and CDM brings no championships, Donk can rightly claim to be the first guy to correctly assess the situation. Of course, if things change, Donk can still get on board.

Lot of players and former Gators in that group. I like to see that support. Copeland speaking strongly in support of Franks. Game 1 and the team is already developing an us against the world mentality and circling the wagons against those melting down after winning a must-win game against a despised rival.

A close team is getting closer.

Mullinz will never be anything but third tier.
Donk prolly wanted Chip Kelly in the Orange and Blue.... cuz at least he can recruit. Plus, he's famous. Face it, we're Dan Mullen's Gators. Come on aboard for the big win (eventually establishing a legacy.) Heck, I hear Urban is coming back to help him return us to glory. Gonna give him all his secret recipes and jedi mind tricks for luring all 5*'s and Donky-worthy players, coaches and facilities. Yippie! B!tches.
