I know there are some of you who can't wait for him to leave, but I like his style of risky defense. I think many of the kids do as well. I think it gets results!

Setting Grantham up for job offers to leave without a buyout from UF.

I'm joking, I'm sure CDM likes Grantham and wants to keep him.

I dont think he is the best, or in the group that you could use 'probably' ... but I also don't think he is anywhere near as bad as some here think. I prefer an attacking defense vs sit back and react so getting burned from time to time will go with the territory. My only beef is the recruitment of smaller DL. I get that speed is important, but stopping the run in the SEC is also important.

Since I feel I should not comment on Cousin Eddie's views regarding Joe Lee Dunn Jr., I will yield to the great John McEnroe;

Really hard to determine your point since it was obvious the ball did hit the line and chalk did fly everywhere.

Honestly, I think our collective enmity for Grantham in most ways is rooted in his connection to the Humpers. It still sickens me. Aside from that, my biggest complaint is his apparent weakness on the recruiting trail. But let's face it, he's far from the only one on this staff that leaves a lot to be desired in that category. On the plus side, I can see how playing in that defense would be a lot of fun.

I agree with the consensus - he's not the best - but I think we could do a lot worse.

On a somewhat related note, the Clowns have hired Jim Leavitt as a defensive consultant. Honestly, I think this is a great move for them. Aside from choking that kid out, he did a truly remarkable job building USF from the ground up. I seem to recall his defenses being stout wherever he went.

A careers worth of traditional stats, advanced stats, and recruiting results say otherwise. Good? Yes. Best? Not even close.

That 3 man front on 3rd and 15 adds at least 2 more bourbons to my day of drinking. Other than that..............we could do alot worse.

He definitely gets results. Which team he gets results for on any given play is the issue.

He takes talent that should get positive results at an 85% clip or so and gets crazy highlight plays while reducing the overall positive results to about 60% of plays (completely made up % to make general point). That reduction is directly due to him. How that increased success rate for the other team versus impact of sacks and other big plays impacts points per possession and winning probabilities would require real advanced analysis across hundreds of games.
