I think this is a fair post, and very much accurately sums it up. Outside of maybe one or two, we don't have very good recruiters, which is a problem. But we also didn't do ourselves any favors from the top down, beginning as far back as the Meyer era. So it's a tough gauge of which is the largest factor. But neither are ideal.
But part of the frustration with Mullen is the fact that we relied on guys like Stiner and Lenton last year and are a very average overall roster. But who's fault is that? Certainly not Mullen's. He can only fix so much and change things so much, so quickly. So while I'll gladly chime in on his and his coaches' roles in it all, the reality is, if we're honest, we'd all be a lot less pissed right now if we hadn't seen 2010-2017. That's the bind we find ourselves in. We want instant improvement, but it's probably not in the cards, regardless of who the coach is. And yes, we allowed place like Alabama, uga and Clemson to become behemoths while we focused on stretching and non-revenue producing sports. But no one, literally no one, hired in November 2017 was going to stop those trains in their tracks. So other than hope that he makes some critical changes, what do we do? My opinion. Hold the coaches accountable, look for positives, and try to be patient. I'm not sure what else can be done.
