If it makes your vagina bleed I will find a way to put it in every post.

You get your nickname and you dont fuss about it. That's the way it is in .mil, law enforcement, courthouses.

At one point in training my nickname was Worm, long before Dennis Rodman and no it wasn't meant to be a compliment. Later it was Moose, and not because I was good at busting down doors but because they were mocking my running style. It stuck with me throughout most of life, though sometimes it's Doc Moose. Of course for a while in the courthouse, I was just Gator, because I was so deep in enemy territory.

Even the nicknames that seem superficially cool, such as Legend (American sniper) , were really mocking someone initially.

You dont bytch, or it just gets that much worse.
But is it a good nickname? A deserving nickname? Or just a lazy effort?

This is one of Mullens major problems and will hold him back for as long as he coaches this way. I'm convinced it's the reason Trask didn't get a fair opportunity last year or why pierce is not that starter right now. Mullen would rather play a player with experience than someone better but no experience. On the defensive side of the ball it don't matter as much. But offense you rarely see a Fr get a lot of playing time. Perine is the starter because he has the most experience he's clearly not the best back everyone sees it but it's the experience.

We could flip Bowman tomorrow and he could come in and have a great spring and rush for 175 yards in the spring game and would probably be redshirted because that's Mullens style. I know Copeland got injured early last year but he has shown signs of being a very good player yet they didn't get him reps last year and he was clearly in early October.

It will cost us big time recruits the more they see their not going to get a fair opportunity to play or start as a true freshman. I'd bet if Fields would have pulled the trigger for us last year he would not have played last year because Mullen would have still went with Frank's
You guys sure do run with a narrative around here.

So we're gonna pretend Pierce didn't play last year? How about Pitts? Elam? Bogle? Diabate? Fact is, it's hard identifying who's the best sometimes. Players have different skill sets. Therefore, they fit the scheme differently. Coming into a new situation, with players you don't know, you go with what you're comfortable with. Also, he was clearly instilling confidence into Franks with his unwavering belief in him. SOS pulled QBs in and out of the game. He was a unicorn in that respect. That's usually not conducive to a healthy environment for a QB.

I never said Pierce didn't play last year. I'm simply pointing out that Mullen will not start the best player at times because he chooses to go with experience over talent. No reason right now Perine should be the starter are denying that? But Mullen continues to trot him out as the starter because he's a Sr and he's got the most experience. Perine is averaging 3.7 a carry this year while Pierce is averaging 5.9. They have close to the same amount of yards but Pierce has 27 less carries. I could understand stick with Perine if its game 3 and your trying to see if he gets going but its game 6 at this point. Pierce is the better back and deserves to get the start at this point.

It seems as if Trask is another example, if you can't see that the offense looks 100 times better under Trask then your not watching the games. And yes I understand that we haven't really played anyone with Trask but the offense flows better under him. I've watched Frank's play the same cupcake teams and we not score like we have under Trask.

Agree with most of this, but you guys seem to have short memories. If memory serves, Trask was set to take the job from Franks last year, then hurt himself tripping over a patch of clover or something during practice. Mullenz is stubborn but he will make a change when things are going south.

Also did some of you ever consider the idea that Pierce may very well get the most carries in this game, but we will need more than one back to carry the load so no point in telling AU all of your plans? I hope this is the case anyway. I don't trust Davis to hold onto the ball against this defense. Hopefully we will be in position to see a lot of Pierce in the second half when we are trying to close out a win. Probably going to need a significant dose of EJ's running skills in this one also.

The depth chart this staff puts out is a joke. Players that aren't even playing listed at the top at times. My guess is they'll start Delance, only to pull him after a few series, for the third straight game. Just go ahead and get Gouriage ( to lazy to check the spelling) first team reps. I did notice Saturday they pulled Pierce from kick coverage, so he will have a larger role I'm sure.

This staff puts absolutely zero effort into the depth chart... putting any stock on those is ridiculous.

Most of Pierce's big yards have come late in games against beaten teams when the DL was tired, dehydrated and done. Compare Perine and Pierce's carries during the 1st half and you probably have a more accurate comparison between the two.

Donkey doesn't get to nickname players when he was wrong about them. Everytime he calls him Trash it is just a reminder to the rest of us that he was wrong ... again. Having served and retired from the US Army, I can tell you he overstates the nicknaming culture. I had a total of 8 nicknames ... Private First Class, Specialist, Sergeant, Staff Sergeant, Sergeant First Class, Warrant Officer 1, Chief Warrant Officer 2 and Chief Warrant Officer 3. All other nicknames were behind my back and I am sure there were many ... otherwise I wasn't doing it right.

Donkey's nickname should be Wrongey.

As Renard and others pointed out, we've played a ton of younger ones both this year and last. After the opener, there was actually a tweet about how many true freshman had already played. Last year there were new faces all over the place. And Franks and Trask are the same year, so it was never about true seniority. But yes, coaches whose job it is to win games will often gravitate to a player that has more experience, not to mention fits their mold better in terms of body type, much more so than a kid who hadn't started in a decade. If his hand was forced, like against Mizzou, so be it. But otherwise that's the route most coaches would take. Ironically, given the opponent this week, it wasn't until after Terry Dean threw his 20th interception against Auburn in '94 that known-moron Spurrier opted to play Wuerffel the rest of the year. And this was after the Uk win a year earlier where Wuerffel had bailed us out.

If the NFL draft were held tomorrow, Franks would be drafted ahead of Trask by a mile because every offensive minded coach would see the physical traits and drive and think they could be the one that get him over the hump. Unfortunately, he seemed to peak last year and never improved. But making it seem as if we went .500 because of him is wrong. At most, he was the difference(negatively) in one game, and had several others that his play contributed greatly to the victory. I agree that Trask makes us look better. But who knows what things look like behind practice doors. If the team truly felt that KT wasn't getting a fair shake, or that we were losing because of FF, there would've been chatter about it. Instead, even after miami, we got the exact opposite.

As for Pierce, I do tend to agree. I mentioned Saturday that I think the staff feels compelled to play him because he came back. Pierce, albeit usually against tired or backup defenders, has looked better.

I'll also add what ATX said. I could see Mullen just barking out names to someone who's frantically writing them down as he pees in a urinal. I don't read too much into it.

True. In shootouts, its best to have a dude who can sling it. Trask might’ve been that guy to keep pace in a shootout.

I agree that DM made what in hindsight looks like a potentially critical error when he chose FF - and the better Trask plays, the worse that decision looks. I also like Pierce as a starter over Perine in this game. But according to DM, FF is the better talent and was a better fit overall, due mostly to his experience and physicality - and apparently Perine is the better total RB and he does appear to be the better blocker. And then I look at a 9 game win streak with a chance to piss off everybody in the CFB universe with a 10th straight win against an over rated AU team. Life is quite good right now, and I intend to enjoy the moment. Go get'em Dan and Go Gators!

I agree with everything you said here but the one part that sets Perine ahead of Pierce is his pass catching. He is like another receiver on the field when the ball is thrown to him. That make a huge difference in game planning.
