Schiano to coach Rutgers after all

The only type of people who like living in Starkville or New Brunswick are people that are from Starkville and New Brunswick. Getting beat up in the SECW at a perennial middle of the pack division team isn't going to land you a big time job unless you really do great things there. And before anyone says 'Mullen', timing and knowing people trumps a lot of other things.

He could actually parlay this move into a much better/bigger job; finish this season at MSU w/ winning record, improve Rutgers to one win over .500 by year two - and get his agent to put out feelers. But I still think this is Schiano's job - who is currently unemployed and can start immediately (probably by mid to late November, in time to build a recruit class for the early signing period).

And to be fair Mullen was not UF's first choice (or second).

The formula at Cowbell is to play 4 cupcakes, usually two 1AA, beat Kintucky and go 3-5ish in the SEC.

Mullinz averaged 7 wins. Moorhead had six and with an inherited QB w a Trey Burton arm. Kintucky was just better one year.

This is Cowbell norm.

Yeah ... I don't buy that. When you hire someone for a job at the top of a pile, you don't take the approach of go the first guy, then the 2nd guy, then the 3rd guy ... and so on. You feel who is interested, then you dance with all of them and the last one on the dance floor is your top choice. Besides ... you have no idea who contacted who and when.

I don;t claim to have any insider knowledge, but what was going on at the time was pretty obvious. Does that mean you think Mullen was the first choice? (Or that you know who contacted who and when?) I'm not saying we went #1?, "No thanks," #2?, "No thanks," #3? "Sure. I'll do it." We were clearly, uh, "dancing," if you will, with Frost and Kelly before CDM and feeling out their interest and I have no doubt had either said "yes" (and, in the case of Frost worked out the whole staff issue) one of them would be our coach now. I'm not unhappy at all at how things worked out, but I don't think CDM was the first choice. He's probably turning out to be the best coach of the ones UF was considering.

You dont claim to have insider knowledge yet you have no doubt Frost or Kelly would be our coach if they said yes? Right after you write a long sentence about how you wasnt saying we went to Frost and Kelly before we went to Mullen after they said no. lol

you're just looking stupid now.

Mullinz was our, at best, third pick.

And was Tinerec's ninth pick.

Dude ... you are the queen of being wrong so I guess you would know one when you see it? But then again, you are wrong so much you are wrong all the time.

Mullen was in the bag from day 1. There was no need to send a plane up to MSU and drool all over him. Frost was a hard no from day 1. Kelly just needed the attention to get the appeal factor up. I am sure there were more feelers sent out to some we have no clue about nor will we ever ... but if you think Stick waited until after Frost and Kelly said no to contact Mullen and feel it out, then you dont just look stupid for all the things you are wrong about here while you throw your emotional little temper tantrums, you are stupid. Contract in had crap is straight up Hollywood Bob/Dooley BS that you and others cling to as if it is fact when it is just twitter nonsense. You have a history of that you know. Being wrong because you think stuff spewed on twitter and message boards are true.

Again ... Feelers go out, dance with them ... Mullen was the last one on the floor ... just like after last nights game ... he was dancing and chomping all the way around the field.

But you and your pals here dont understand that ... because you are worker bees who have never been through any sort of high profile hiring.

Holy crap, you're right! I confirmed tinerc's list from a toothless insider:

1. Saban
2. Gruden
3. Bill Belichick
4. Bill Parcells
5. vince dooley
6. General Neyland's ashes (family said no)
7. Bill Walsh's corpse (ditto)
8. Bear Bryant's houndstooth fedora (ditto)
9. Dan Mullen
10-26. The rest of the list that was released to the media.
27. Pruitt

I apologize for doubting you, donk.

Well, that’s better than those who claim to hate Georgia for stuff that happened around WW 1.

uh, no.....there’s a reason Sherman burned georgia during the civil war. Had he been allowed to finish the job, things may have been different....

Look, I’m all in on hating rivals with all your heart. I get it and I’ve lived it.

That said, it seems silly to me when someone here says their hatred for UGA is rooted in something that happened 100 years ago. Really? I just don’t see a smart, well-adjusted person being incensed over things that took place 50-60 years before he was even born.

People can get emotional about whatever they choose, and it’s OK. I just think that reason is silly and can’t take the supposed outrage seriously.

Damn, @ufgator812 , I see you feel strongly about this. You must have one long-ass sh!t list ‘cause a lot has happened over the last century.

Do we stop at 1900? I only ask bc I see you’re the Duke of Marlborough (or at least a fan), and I recall some meaningful dust-ups my predecessors had with England in the 18th and 19th centuries. On which side do you still feel allegiance, the Whigs or the Tories?
