Earlier on the Florida-Vandy TV broadcast, they posted the results of a straw poll for the 5 best SEC QBs since 1980. In order from 1 to 5 the results were Tebow, Peyton Manning, Cam Newton, Johnny Manziel & Tua.

The younger of the 2 guys calling the game (I don’t know his name) said he had no disputes with the list. I’m like WTF, is this list a bad joke? Johnny, Tua and for that matter Cam (the guy only played one frickin season) have no business on the list. Any list that doesn’t have Danny on it is disqualified IMO. Discuss.

***EDIT***- The young commentator I referred to above is Dan Orlovsky. He sucks as a commentator.

Danny was part of 4 Sec Championship teams, won a Natty, won the Heisman, but wasn’t one of the top 5 QB’s in the SEC over the last 40 years. Ok

Several have nailed it. Danny, Tebow and Rex are fixtures in the Too 3. Behind that there may be some debate.

DJ Shockley threw one of my favorite “TD” passes of all times. So I give him an honorable mention as well.

Agree, manziel never won jack. Tua ain't won jack either quite honestly. Cam played 1 season. List was made by a millennial no doubt.

That's the first thing I thought, "Cam played 1 season!" You can't be on a 'the best' list if you only played one season.

Pretty sure Newton would have racked up even bigger numbers if he hadn’t been such a boob. His 2010 season was one for the ages.

Yeah but still not worthy of being on the list. One year a career does not make.

Your own OP simply said “5 best.” I took that not to mean lifetime achievement but rather how good they were when they departed the college game.

Wuerffel was a great quarterback here, but his accomplishments will always be overshadowed by Spurrier.

In and of itself, it’s not a lifetime achievement award and technically 4 years of play aren’t required. However, there are other guys that did just as well over more than 1 season.

90% of us never saw Spurrier play. And the only play we have seen is a grainy black and white of him is kicking a FG. He has a Heisman. So does Danny, plus four SEC rings. a National championship and we've all probably seen every down he played either live or on TV. So how does Spurrier overshadow Danny as a QB?

Who said QB? I meant him calling the plays for Wuerffel.
