It may not be good enough to many of us, but the big question is it good enough for the administration?
Personally, I think we ride it out with Dan until the facilities are complete. Reevaluate at that time and if you feel you have a better prospect, you pull the trigger.

I think the administration will ride him even if there is a better option out there... football isn't that important.

Agree with this. And while I also don't like the fan lecturing talk either, I honestly think we'd see a lot less of it from that crowd if there wasn't such a persisting negative tone to so many posts and threads. Like the Mullen hire or not, think he's done a fantastic job or not, I'm not sure we've seen anything to justify some of the opinions. Maybe I'm in the minority, but I think the "he's great!" posts are no less credible than the "he's a mid-tier coach who'll never win anything!" posts that we see regurgitated over and over on a daily basis. Neither have enough data to go off, so I'm not sure how or why some have adopted such set-in-stone opinions. The problems predate Mullen by a mile, and he's doing pretty decent all around given some of that uphill battle. May as well be somewhat positive that we're not in the position that a lot of other teams are in, with coaches some of us wanted.

Ftr, I don't care one bit how someone sees things and people can be as negative as they want. I'm just saying both extremes are fairly ridiculous at this point.

It is just a microcosm of our society now. The use of extremes as the norm for the aggregate. Left or Right on every issue. Red or Blue for it all. He sucks or he doesn't suck with no subbias available.

Meaning ... its easy to see it, just as @soflagator says above. The loud ones here are at the extreme ends of the spectrum lobbing virtual molotov cocktails at the other extreme and the people in the middle are caught in the cross-fire with both sides seeing them as extreme from their point of view.

But it will get a million.

Has there EVER been a Gator loss you didn't think was excusable? It's a serious question. You love ALL the coaches, never question a damn thing. You lectured us on Muschamp, wagged your finger at us about your beloved Butters, and guess what? We were right.

The coaches make millions to do a job. When they fail, they get criticized. It's tough, high-pressure work, and they are well compensated for it. Hell, these jackasses even get 8 FIGURES when they are rightfully fired! It's disgusting.

Quit babying them like they are volunteers coaching Pop Warner teams. Some of you guys act like lightning will strike you if you ever say anything negative about the program.

At the time of signing Mullen was the 6th highest paid coach in the Nation, currently he is the 10th. Now would you say he has shown enough to be the 10th best coach in the NCAA? Do you think he has maximized his talent and opportunity in the two years at UF?

Before SOS made everyone an expert I can list quite a few uga games that made me sick. Almost depressed. But I guess your beef
is how I dont jump on the finger pointing wagon.

When you have a boatload of negators screaming about the horrible coaches we have why do you need my voice to affirm your thoughts? I know my stories of gator days gone by and my Mayberry meanderings create an Andy GRiffith persona and we all know HE HAD the answers but just ignore me. They make millions so we can talk shttt about them? I dont even consider the money. If they are my new coach Im their fan. When they aint my coach I will move on unless they won some hardware or brought us something to be proud of.
You just made me self investigate. When I was teaching young kids I was Mr Rogers. I was more about being encouraging than pointing out everyone's flaws. I looked hard at some of those younguns to have something to praise them for but I learned early on if they knew I cared and was honest with them they were MUCH easier to deal with and even found success. So long story short I would rather see the good than find the bad and wallow in it with others that enjoy that sort of thing.

Yes, I would say he’s a top 10 coach. That doesn’t get championships though. Hopefully he can get to that top 5 with better staff management and recruiting.

Considering it appears he'll finish in the top 10 in the rankings during both of his first 2 years, with what is pretty much a unanimous agreement that he has a less than top 10 roster, I'd say so. Yeah.

On the cusp of a second-straight 10-win season, Dan Mullen was named a semifinalist for the George Munger Collegiate Coach of the Year.

In his second season, Mullen has led the Gators to a 9-2 record with only a game left against Florida State this season. The Gators are heavily favored to beat the Seminoles, which would secure back-to-back 10-win seasons for Mullen in his first two years at Florida and a bowl game left to play.

Pumpers note: Only SOS and Urb have had 10 win seasons 2 yrs in a row.

Counterpoint: MacElwain was SEC Coach of the Year in 2015. I don’t put a lot of stock in awards.

A season with no championships is a failed season. I think even Mullen would agree.
