Someone finally cuts to the front of the rim while Blackshear has the ball at the perimeter -- and even though he bobbled the ball, Quez gets a wide open layup for his effort. Much better executed game today vs the game against the St Joe's Flapping Wing Teen Wolves.

Well well well, look at this. Don’t write this squad off yet, fellas. Far too much talent to throw in the talent after 4 games

Florida wins 78-58 in one of the better all around games we have played a while. Scottie Lewis hounding Chris Lykes all game was amazing to watch defensively and offensively we made shots, moved, got inside, made lots of 3pters, and went inside out. Loved it

Scored at least 38 and 4 of the last 6 halves. Not a juggernaut yet but starting to hit shots and get some consistency. I said it will take at least 15-20 games for this squad to gel. I still think so.

THIS is the type of game and performance that so many expected from us to start the year and why the noise has been so loud thus far.

Blackshear was the best player on the floor; some of last year's top performers were key contributors (KJ most notably, but Nembhard was decent too); and solid minutes from our highly rated freshmen. The combination allowed us to hold a decent team under 60 pts (well below their average), while we scored 75+ and won comfortably.

I can't speak to the first half since I didn't see it, but we were comfortably in command midway through the 2nd half and only went further ahead. This is what we're capable of...letsl hope we finish strong on Sunday.

To be clear, the lack of a true, tempo-controlling, elite floor vision playmaker means there is a lot of handing off, trying to create space and playground type basketball happening offensively on this team. You can roll weaker teams with this, but the assignment strong, just as athletic defenses in CBB will make this type of offense extremely inefficient.

Team need to continue to stress spacing, moving to open spots, cutting to the rim and putting stress on the defense off the ball to beat the better teams, even in the SEC.

Defensively, this team looks very good, especially with Lewis on the floor.

Two game win streak.

Intense Defense looks like the catalyst for this young team. That, and the ball needs to move toward KB every possession either at the elbow or block, even if he doesn't take a shot.

And....RUN THE FLOOR. PUSH THE BALL.

At that slow pace and we scored nearly 80. Imagine if we pushed the ball more and ignored the stop sign at half court.

3 out of last 4 halves have been very well played. Maybe we’re finally starting to see this team come together. While I would love to avenge the UCONN loss, I’d much rather get a shot at Xavier to see if this is all smoke and mirrors against crappy opponents or real progress.

Great 2nd half defense and Blackshear was tremendous. Scottie Lewis had his best game and Glover, Payne and Johnson all had their moments. It could be our first game where assists outnumbered turnovers. Solid win.

He’d at least have a better “process”.
It’s amazing he never turned all this expertise into a P5 coaching position (in any sport, as he’s an expert in them all) or an AD spot. I guess it would probably be harder to do all those things without the benefit of hindsight, though.

Oh God no.

That explains why you changed the title to read that the Gators managed "to slip by Miami". Other than a couple of cooler shooting streaks, the Gators put together a solid offensive and defensive performance in a game that more closely resembled team play that a bunch of individuals on the court together. They soundly beat the point spread, had 4 guys in double figures, including 2 freshmen, had season-highs in a lot of categories, and got a lot of points from the bigs.

It was trending towards the kind of game fans have been wanting to see from the Gators this year.

Good job, Gators!

p.s., imnsho, people who don't watch a game shouldn't be the ones to change the game-thread title, at least not until they understand how the game actually played out. Perhaps that would be better left to someone who was invested enough to at least WATCH the game.
