Come on Donk. Morehead is an AWFUL coach and should be fired. MSU has been horrific, far worse than anything Mullen ever put on the field there.

The entire Starkville nation can clearly see this but Donk cannot.

MSU has dropped off dramatically in two short years with Moorhead (or is he Paul Chryst?) MSU will be lucky to make a bowl game this year and probably won't next year either.

Seriously, can you tell Moorhead and Chryst apart if they were standing side by side?

I know that Cowbell records dont count but Dan Millens had two losing seasons there and was 7 wins or worse 4 of his 8 years.

But that is just the real world. Im not sure how many moral victories he had. The only I know for sure doesnt count is South Alabama.

His winning percentage was 60% at Msu. Spurrier's was 58.8% at Duke.

Mullen played more cupcakes, but also faced the SECW every year. Spurrier had fewer cupcakes, but also faced the pre-noles ACC.

Garbage locations are garbage locations.

I get what you're saying w/ the $4 million salary for the head coach, that's doable for a Rutgers. But the $7.7 million assistant salary pool is outrageous, even for a low, low tier B10 school w/ the B10 money.
UF paid $5.52 million in 2019, below is the 2018 top salaries. No f'ing way Rutgers can or should be paying that kind of money for 5 to 6 wins/year.

Top 15 assistant salary pools - 2018

1. Ohio State: $7,383,938
2. Clemson: $6,825,000
3. Texas A&M: $6,789,640
4. Auburn: $6,555,600
5. LSU: $6,470,000
6. Georgia: $6,420,000
7. Alabama: $6,123,723
8. Texas: $5,955,000
9. Michigan: $5,875,000
10. Florida State: $5,715,000
11. Tennessee: $5,675,000
12. Washington: $5,465,040
13. Oregon: $5,345,000
14. Oklahoma: $5,133,000
15. South Carolina: $5,050,000
I bet that assistant coaches' salaries correlates better with wins than does Threat's talent scale.

Mullen also inherited a disaster and turned them into a respectable program. Morehead is currently reversing those trends. This isn’t to say CDM is going to win a championship but he’s definitely better than Morehead.

Again, not arguing Mullen is a championship coach or that he was immune to bad seasons (of course, neither were Spurrier - losing season at Duke - or Saban - 4 of 5 seasons at MSU were 7-5 or worse). Just stating that MSU was a solid program when Morehead took over and its getting worse. Mullen inherited terrible programs twice and turned them both around (UF much quicker). But, as @MJMGator alluded to, I can’t wait to hear the real story about what Mullen did to you. A decade plus is a long time to harbor that pain - let it out man!

Schiano apparently asked for the moon:
  • An annual salary of $4 million for each of the next eight seasons through February 2028, with $400,000 retention bonuses every two years after the second year of his contract.
  • A $25.2 million guarantee if the university were to terminate his contract without cause before 2021. That guarantee would go down in later years in increments, to $4.2 million by 2026.
  • Unlimited use of a private jet for all recruiting activities and for all non-recruiting program and university-related travel.
  • Bonuses if season ticket benchmarks were reached.
There were also provisions for a car, private golf club membership, spousal and family travel to games and a $100,000 relocation and temporary lodging bonus.

In addition, the proposed deal included a pledge to expand and improve the university’s football facilities by 2023, or Schiano could leave without penalty, and called for an initial salary pool set at $7.7 million for the 10 full-time assistant coaches and other support staff members, which would increase annually by no less than 3%.

Rutgers, according to the site, originally offered Schiano a 6-year contract worth an average of $4 million a year.

It's freaking Rutgers. The guy was either out of his mind, or really didn't want the job unless he got the moon.

I'll respectfully disagree with both of you on some of this. $4 million per year doesn't seem out of line-actually it seems reasonable given Schiano's prior track record at Rutgers, although the 8 year term he's asking for seems a bit much. $25 million buyout seems rich...I guess Schiano is basing that off the $32 million package he was seeking ($4m x 8 years). Bonuses for season ticket sales...seems like the bonuses should be for Ws/Ls, winning titles, making certain bowl games, etc. but I would think this could be negotiated; seems like a pretty small thing in the whole scheme of things. At least he's not asking for a cut of the popcorn sales like Mac.

Assistant coaching pool request of $7.7m seems high for Rutgers. Seems like they have to make do with a lesser known quantity of a coach (maybe a younger guy looking to impress a program and get his first HC gig or maybe impress a Bama/Clemson/OSU and get a OC/DC role at one of those schools making $1.5m per year) who they can pick up as a coordinator for $500k-$700k and position coaches pulling in less than that.

Car, golf club and relo expenses are pretty standard for coaches. The request for an indoor facility seems reasonable as does the ability to bail out if the school doesn't follow through but the amount of money he's seeking may be too rich. The private jet request on its' face seems far fetched although I'll admit I don't know what is standard op procedure for college HCs when traveling for recruiting purposes. Do most of the HCs fly on private jets when they are recruiting? Is this something reserved for just the top guys like Saban, Dabo, etc.?

All in all, it seems like most of the requests are in line while there may be a few that seem over the top, IMO.

lol you’re ridiculous. Moorhead is in year 2 and looks like he might get fired but you’re right - only gator fans think Mullen is better. All those bulldog fans going to get Mullen back are just Mullen relatives.

That’s about how much it would take me to live in that part of New Jersey...and even them I’d probably take to less to coach almost anywhere else in the country
