That's somewhat true but somewhat misleading. I thought we had to over compensate to stop the run (Diabate was way over-matched) which led to some easy pass plays that normally would be more contested. I think Durty is right about beating ugly and Cubby.

I don’t remember Diabate being the one beat in that game (everyone got beat), but I remember them using Dean like cheap hooker.

He was one example of several, BTW add 25 lbs, maintain speed and he will be a force. I watched him close because I was sitting behind the bench, best seats ever never be so fortunate again, and I was shocked at how skinny the young man is.

They’re not all going to start. At least 2 of them could probably eventually switch to SDE. Now I might be wrong about this, but don’t we actually run 4 Down men a lot?

DT is by far the hardest position to predict. A lot of those guys fail out due to grades or they just never have the strength and motor to compete at the SEC level. How many DTs over the years have flat out washed out of the program?

Hell over the last couple years we’ve had a few players who haven’t even made it to campus.

Bring in six down lineman.
One or two probably won’t qualify.
One or two will probably wash out.
One or two won’t be ready for several years.

That probably brings us down to about three that will contribute.

it’s all a numbers game.

We played 3 good teams this year. Lost to two and won one, and it was the lower of 3 in comparison. Regardless of record, 2/3 of the time against solid competition, our defense struggled mightily to get off the field.

You know how you complain about Donkey always beating things to death, well... you have a tendency to do the same when it comes to disagreeing with him.

We played two good teams this year. @$$sniffers's offense does not count as good.

Speaking of numbers is there any way you can fix this clusterf vcked recruiting debacle? I'm too old and don't have time for 1 single never ending thread when trying to follow recruiting....please.
because.

Except for transfer QBs. We get a separate thread on them.

Not really. One is the RUSH linebacker, on the few occasions that we do it.

It is kind of silly really, because the RUSH LB rushes on almost every play, so it's not like it fools them. Many 3-4s send one LB or the other to mix it up some.

Next season the roster is going to be lean at WR & LB - and very young at OL & DB. But except for the OL & DL being heavy on 1st and 2nd year players, the roster is getting more balanced. Signing only 2 heavy DL's (one is gone) the last two years was head scratching (I know we tried, but not hard enough obviously). We already have 1 DT and 1 SDE committed in the 2021 class. We're supposedly going to have a great DL class next year - I can see 4 more DT's coming in. I'm hoping we bring in at least one grad transfer - either WR, OL, or DT (at least). It will give some of these younger guys time to develop, rather than getting thrown to the wolves.

Mullen & Brian Johnson are supposed to visit Eli Canion tonight. Looks like they're making a big push to add at least 1 more WR (hopefully that's in addition to Henderson). We offered the UT commit, the UCF commit, plus we still have Beckwith on the hook.
