Gator Student-Athletes Participating in Spring Commencement - Florida GatorsI'd like to be able to answer that but the official Florida roster doesn't list the players' majors in their bios. Still, I am sticking to my story that when players' majors are mentioned, like in an article or maybe during a TV broadcast, I have noticed a trend that O-linemen often major in engineering.
I think he was an intramural football OL.Only 14 football players participated in that commencement exercise, so not a big sample size. Maybe players tend to graduate at some time other than spring for some reason.
But in any event, the one player among those 14 who majored in engineering, Ricardo Benalcazar, was.....guess what? An offensive lineman. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
That, hospitality management, and communications are common football majors.lol. Did you notice in your graduation list that Eddy Pineiro majored in African American Studies?
I hear you, but let me go out on a limb and stereotype -- I've noticed that a lot of white O-linemen gravitate toward the engineering field for their majors. I could be wrong but I don't think an Ivy League engineering degree is worth a tremendous amount more than one from UF. Our engineering school is in the top 50 nationwide.
Or, maybe he already has a post-collegiate career lined up and is going to work for a business owned by family or friends, so it doesn't really matter where he gets his degree.
FWIW I know an SEC OL who is pursuing an engineering degree.I hear you, but let me go out on a limb and stereotype -- I've noticed that a lot of white O-linemen gravitate toward the engineering field for their majors. As a Dad of 2 UF grads, The education and rep speaks for itself. I only wish I had finished my degree at UFLol that sad part is they are still blinde and don't know why he'd pick UF over UCF and the sad part it he even turned down free education so it's worse!
Education + room and boarding is like 20k? Isn't that a big deal?It might be with a Florida lotto scholarship that the difference is not that great. After all walk on's I expect get the same outside benefits. Those would include free food, clothes, etc.
if he's on an academic scholarship it counts against or 85 limit. same for any player playing another sport on scholarship.we dont know the details.... if he has fla prepaid or bright futures....he doesnt even need a scolly
They all count. Those aren't academic scollys.....

No kidding could you imagine the abuse schools could do. We know Kentucky calipari would be first to cheat. They all count.
It was to keep Nebraska from having 250 kids on "academic" schollies.
I majored in African Engineering…..My Dad(who was a real Engineer) had a different name for it though...lol. Did you notice in your graduation list that Eddy Pineiro majored in African American Studies?
3 star OT Mark Pitts turns down a full ride at UCF to be a walk on at Florida. Heard it on Zach abolverdi podcast. That's crazy and shows UCF is still UCF.
