Pshhh, as if. He wishes he could have a a nickname that prestigious. He never even made it into the NCAA tournament when we hired him. He had a couple of good regular seasons with his team and they choked in big games in the conference tourney (sound familiar) and that was apparently good enough to hire him. Can you imagine any other program with recent national championships hiring a guy like that?
I'll say it a million times if I have to: The dude has been completely mediocre here. He gets credit as a good coach from some because of one elite 8 run where we got a good draw against teams in the tourney and still choked away that Wisconsin game before chiozza made one lucky ass shot. That one three point floater is the only reason people haven't called for his head before this season. We have seen SEVERE player regression multiple times. I have never seen regression like watching Allen and Hudson play last year. Locke and Nembhard were way better than those two last year as freshman. So what happens this year? It appears Locke and Nembhard suddenly have regressed similarly and keyontae Johnson certainly has not been playing well. That's not to mention that basset has never even gotten a lick better since he stepped onto campus. I would imagine if Gak wasn't constantly injured we would be saying the same things about him. We have the pre-season SEC player of the year on this team who will be lucky to even make all SEC second team by the end of the year at this point.
I'm trying to think of something positive to say about the team but I can't.
Nobody has surprised or impressed this year. Scottie Lewis's defense is pretty good and that's maybe the only exciting part of our team? He gets a steal and then we usually don't run a fast break after so it doesn't really matter.
Does Tre Mann even want to be on this team? Doesn't look like it and I don't blame him. He probably goes to sleep at night lamenting that he plays for this dingbat instead of cheater and scumbag Roy Williams. He will transfer elsewhere and probably be an incredible player. As he should.
