If Mullen leaves, who do we hire?

Who do you think we would hire? I have to think immediate first call is to Urban to kick the tires, see if he wants to come back for a few years and try to get a ring or two more and leave the Gators on top.

IF Urban says no, who would we look at? Again, this is ONLY a hypothetical as I only see this happening if Dallas offered. After Urban, honestly no hot up and comer "sure fires" jump out at me. But I figure some of you smart guys would have good thoughts.

Happy New Year!

Offer the UVA coach. He seems like a sharp guy.

Seeing how this is only hypothetical, when Mullen jumps to the NFL, all the other top tier coaches , Dabo, Satan, etc. would say, hey, I want to coach an NFL team, (again in Saban’s case), causing a mass exodus of NFL coaches. So we should probably target Belichek,

...............................................then Dallas would continue to be in the sewer with another worthless coach to go along with the clueless owner/GM.

As for UF, according to most as long as the person has sniffed the air in G'ville, wiped their A$$ or picked their nose in the area, played and/or coached in the zip code or was a former janitor on campus, then you are qualified. An understanding of the culture is important to the 99% who are only scoreboard watchers.

I'm sure the next Nick Saban/Bill Belichick is just sitting by the phone waiting for Strickland's call. Not sure who this guy is yet, but trust me, he's out there.

As Stricklin is an obvious Cowbell homer it would be none other than Morehead. Or Moorehead; or More-Head. Just imagine the promo opportunities- Morehead is good for all!

The "If" in the OP title will be 12 years from now, after many double-digit win seasons, and will be a glorious run.

As for "who", I don't know but we've got over a decade of winning and Donks complaining to figure it out.

I was actually thinking last night that the UVA coach would do well for us. Seems like a solid dude.
In my opinion, Mendenhall would be a great hire and that was before last night. He's been a HC since 2005 at BYU and the UVA. 124-70 record as a HC. That's pretty darn good for those two stops.

The drawback before was lack of Southern roots but he’s got that to an extent in VA so now he’d make a ton of sense. I like him a lot as a coach. Would be a good get if we were in the market.

Norvell. He’d want the opportunity to coach at the state’s flagship university and he’d realize we’re less of a rebuild than FSU.

Our administration would be thrilled with Norvell after they realize that the cost to land him would be bargain basement prices. Being only 2 hours away by car, the relocation & moving expenses would be significantly less than if we hired an out of state coach. That would immediately get Foley’s attention and a deal would be consummated ASAP.

I'm not usually a fan of looking at coordinators, but if we do I'd be happy with Venables. From his time at OU and Clemson the dude would have a ton of connections to put together a fine coaching staff at Florida. He's the only coordinator I'd look at.

If he could lure Chad Morris as his OC, I'd definitely take it.
