This thread is hilarious . But it is New Year's Day and all is peaceful and happy here in NVA after our Gators held off the Mighty Cavs. But you are overthinking this question so let me take a shot.

Potential new coaching staff:

HBC S. Spurrier
OC. K. Bell
Asst. OC and QB coach D. Wuerffel
OL Coach M. Pouncey (Maurkice}
DC. K. Carter
Asst DC and LB Coach J. Kearse
DB Coach A. Black
WR Coach. C. Doering
Asst WR Coach. P. Harvin
Running Back Coach. E. Smith
Strength Coach/Recruiting Coordinator T. Tebow

There are several posts in this thread mentioning Bronco Mendenhall. Sure he's an innovative coach and an interesting man. He is a good coach for programs like BYU and UVa. But for an SEC program that want to win the SEC I don't think so.

Before the Orange Bowl game Mendenhall said Virginia might get blown out but if they hung together and were in the game he would consider it a moral victory if they lost a close one. To be that's something akin to Butch Jones Champions of Life and Tax Slayer Bowl talk. That won't get you very far in Tuscaloosa, Baton Rouge or Gainesville. Even if you're coaching Virginia you still have to have the mindset that we're coming to Miami not to look at the scenery but to beat the damn Gators. That kind of Bronco Mendenhall mindset will earn you the Mike Shula barbecue sandwich award in the SEC.

In the SEC as Lane Kiffin said at his introductory Ole Miss press conference "we don't want to be good; we want to be great". Mullen didn't leave Starksvegas because he wanted to come to UF to win some moral victories against Georgia and LSU. No, he came here because he wanted to run it down the throat of LSU, Georgia, and FSU and get a statue built.

UVa only builds statues to great historical figures like Thomas Jefferson then wants to tear them down when the political winds blow another way. UF builds statues to Spurrier, Wuerffel, and Tebow for eternity. Sure UF is a good academic institution but we don't worry like UVa does if a winning football program will tarnish our reputation. We're UF dammit; not Stanford. The only SEC school Bronco would be a good fit is Wonderbilt.

Damn... Joe is dropping some truth bombs and planting a flag! I like it!

...............................................then Dallas would continue to be in the sewer with another worthless coach to go along with the clueless owner/GM.

As for UF, according to most as long as the person has sniffed the air in G'ville, wiped their A$$ or picked their nose in the area, played and/or coached in the zip code or was a former janitor on campus, then you are qualified. An understanding of the culture is important to the 99% who are only scoreboard watchers.
I thought I was a condescending bunghole, but you really take the cake.

You must have enjoyed giving up 28 to UVA, because that would be a good defensive performance under him.

That's with the thought that he couldn't hire a good defensive coordinator. I could see there being some sort of discussion with him about that. Also, although I love good defense, I would rather feel like we can win shootouts like this year (for the most part) than most of the decade where all a team had to do is score 17 and we were in a lot of trouble.

I would give it more likes if I could. Can you imagine what the Mullen-dumpers would say (and a lot of pumpers as well) if we had Bronco as a coach, and before ANY game said something to the effect that he’d be okay with a moral victory? Ox would either be well on his way to his second million posts, or the board would dry up from lack of fan interest with a HC complacent with 4th or 5th place in the SEC.

Is this a WHO WOULD WE HIRE or WHO WOULD YOU HIRE question?

Wouldn’t want a DC, wouldn’t want an old dude, wouldn’t want someone unfamiliar with the SEC, would want someone who could light up the scoreboard.

Honestly? I’d probably roll the dice on Brady.

Mario Cristobal, I think he’d be easily swayed to come back to the SEC.

cristobal would be an excellent get. fantastic recruiter, young with a ton of energy, players and croots seem to love him, and he's showing he can run a major program, win big, and score points in style. i honestly cant think of any negatives he possesses other than agreeign to work for ole willy
