I watched John Wick the other night, it was really good. I have been missing out. I bought all 3 movies for $5 each on Black Friday online at Amazon. Great deal for some good action flicks!

I really like the first one... a lot, and had no problem with the parts that require "suspension of reality." I took it for what it was and enjoyed it. With the other two, they are too "comic booky" to me and I really didn't like either of them... had to pretty much suspend all reality from start to finish, and for me, it was too much. That said, I do understand why a lot of people liked the second two movies, just not for me.

Jumangi:The Next Level (2019): The family all went to see this on Christmas day at the cheap theaters ($3/ticket). It was predictable but in an entertaining way. A lot of new stuff is put out there, but it's the same type of premise. There is an easter egg for the 3rd movie with the villain and the post "in-game" stuff. Overall I enjoyed not as much as the first in the reboot, but all the same pretty entertaining (8/10)

Threat Matrix matrix: No boobs in this film.

Star Wars: Rise of Skywalker (2019): Decent movie, not great not horrible. The last movie made me want to question seeing this one after the trip to the casino that took 45 minutes that amounted to nothing of value to the overall story (also no real payoff in the 9th movie from it either). it was nice to see the familiar faces, and I'm not overly down on the new characters other than they are just reboots over the old characters because apparently JJ Abrams has no original ideas. It was entertaining enough, but choppy as all hell the first hour. Really should have gone though one more story edit to stream it more consistently, but schit Disney is making a fck ton of money off of it. Entertaining, expectations were not high so a solid (7/10).

Watched Jumanji: The Next Level yesterday. If you liked Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle, this movie is for you. It was funny and even heart warming at times. Not sure if I liked the overall story as much, but that may be a matter of preference.

Green Book - about the black pianist who has the tough guy bodyguard drive him through the south on his tour. He has a green book with him that lists all the places he can take him. Nothing special, but it is a good movie about the times and such with friendship and all that crap. 7/10

A Simple Favor - Blake Lively and Anna Kendrick. What could go wrong. This mystery made me tap out 30 minutes in. Stink show. 2/10.

Men in Black International - Popcorn flick to turn your brain off to. Not horrible, but easily figured everything out early. Just another series that could have been buried. 5/10

Noelle (Disney +) - Anna Kendrick plays the daughter of Santa. When her brother is having trouble taking over she has to step up to help. Perfect role for her and a nice little film with the family at Christmas. 6.5/10

6 Underground (Netflix) - Michael Bay is the director so expectations should be below the bar. It is what it is. Turn your brain off and enjoy a Netflix movie that isn't that great like the rest of them. 5/10

The Irishman (Netflix) - I think everyone knows the story. Overrated a tad in my book. Pesci is fantastic. The de-aging in fight scenes is weird. Not as good as Goodfellas and according to my wife not as good as the book. It will be a slow year and get nominated and then everyone that cried about Netflix getting into the Oscars will magically be silent. 7/10

Far to many Hallmark movies to go over this holiday season. Also Mrs. Maisel on prime is a pretty good show.

So does it get any better than that idiotic car chase to start the movie? I like me some Ryan Reynolds and that French actress from Inglorious Basterds is very hot, but I surfed away from this during that insufferable opening car chase with a guy sliding down rooftops. Sheesh.

Scorsese's recent petty shots at today's movie making (Marvel in particular) were initially off-putting, but the opening of this flick has me reconsidering a bit...

So do I nut up with this and try again, or should I move on and await Deadpool 3?

I tried to watch it today but my wife insisted we go back to the Servpro Bowl because she’s not Deadpool-humor friendly.

So yeah - I need to hear that answer too!

I have not gone back and tried that again. They lost me for good with that opening chase.

I finished season 2 of Jack Ryan the other night. I agree with the other posters - the plot was insipid and the action way overdone. Jack Ryan movies and books (RIP, Tom Clancy) need action, but not Die Hard type action. Silly. Though, I did like the Hamilton watch Krasinski wore and am looking at a couple of their models....

I watched the Downton Abbey movie. It was an enjoyable romp through British nobility. And, royalty. Stow your man cards and watch the series and movie.

I watched episode 1 of Messiah on Netflix last night (I can only stomach watching the Humpers during the Cocktail Party, or when they're figuring out new ways to lose the SECCG). It seems very promising so far.

Saw Knives Out tonight. Fun, interesting and laugh out loud in a couple of spots. Glad we saw it in a theater.

Bought my wife the DVD for Christmas and we watched it a couple days later. Enjoyable for fans of the series, but would be tough to follow for new comers.

Now have you seen the movie Dolemite or any of it's way too many sequels.
Have not seen them, wouldn’t be opposed to it now.

1917 was a masterpiece. Joker was very good, but flawed. Phoenix deserves the best actor Oscar. Parasite was fantastic and a perfect satire on current society. Only complaint was a rushed ending.

Still have a few Oscar contenders to knock out like Ford vs. Ferrari, Knives Out, The Irishman, and Jo Jo Rabbit.
