Really interesting article about James Bates. I had no idea that he was an artist nor did I know he was teaching a class on broadcasting at UF. Definitely one of the Gator greats!

Which ones? He shows a lot of his work on social media, hes pretty talented in an odd sort of way.

One of his best stories is when Daryl Bush, who ended up with the clowns, was on his recruiting visit and Bush’s mother tells Spurrier that he always wears #44. Bates, then a redshirt freshman or sophomore was in the room and Spurrier turns to him and says “Batesy, don’t you wear #44”, Bates says yes sir, Spurrier turns back to Bush’s mother and says I guess he won’t be wearing 44 if he comes here.

He still does a lot of sports commentary and play by play work.
I always hoped he would end up doing Gators sports but I doubt that will ever happen

The 4'x8' Michael Phelps is also available but if I have to email for a price, I can't afford it.

Plus, my wife would kill me if I bought a weird 8-foot-tall painting of Michael Phelps.

I wonder if whoever bought the painting of Butters still has it hanging up somewhere. Or if he hates himself more than the guy who bought the Mark Richt.
