If Mays gets a waiver they could start four 5-stars on their OL. Unbelievable!
The question is: How in hell did they get a line like that and why in hell don't we have one?
Seriously. If I'm the HBC ... I want my recruiting staff to answer that question. Break it down. Each recruit. How did they land them?

UGA is interested in soon to be grad transfer Tre McKitty (from FSU). Wasn't sure to put this in the FSU in shambles or UGA in shambles thread.... Also UGA wants a grad transfer OL, which makes me smile - they've recruited so well since kirby arrived and they are now desperate for grad transfers at: QB, TE, and OL.

They’re unraveling. Consistent reports from players leaving that Kirby is dishonest. We’ve seen it on the trail, some. I won’t get into it again about his coaching acumen but I think we can both agree his greatest strength is recruiting. If he doesn’t change something soon, I think the natives will push him out.

I keep reading that from non-UGA boards, but he just signed the #3 class in the country w/ another three 5-stars. Their D next year will be sick and keep them in most games. They do play at Alabama next year in week 3, so that'll be something to watch.

Dwag alums won’t push for his ouster after a #3 class. No, they’ll do what you thought they would do. They’ll demand he lie about his lying.

Is it balanced? They’re about to fall apart on offense - hunting the transfer portal for 3 different positions.

And if we really wanted to take an honest look, we’d view it from a “personnel management”, not recruiting, perspective. There’s something to be said for getting the right guys to come but there’s also something to be said for keeping them around. His staff has been great at the former but looks worse by the day at the latter. Saban and Dabo are great at both. Mullen seems to be good at the latter and improving at the former.

Right now he's doing what Saban did early in his Alabama tenure: building a championship defense w/ a ball control offense. CFB has changed since then (even Saban has changed). My worry is he's still bringing in a lot of talent. If he grows a pair and tweaks the offense they have the horses to - at least - get to the playoff (which gives you a shot at a title).

As far as "is it balanced"? I'd say so:

Signed: #6 RB, #8 QB, #7/#14/#48 WR's, #1 TE, 4 OT's (plus another committed). That's pretty balanced.

Looks good for this year but what about years past and will they be able to keep them? If they were doing a good job with roster and personnel management, they wouldn’t be in the predicament that they’re in. As @ltraz put elsewhere, its entirely possible they’re 4-3 coming into the game with us and every team after has a shot at them. I don’t think they’ll be 4-3 (probably a sloppy 6-1 as the defense will help them beat UVA and I never trust Auburn to compete with anyone other than us) but that doesn’t mean the problems rearing their head now won’t hurt them down the stretch. I’m no expert on Bama but I don’t remember them having the issues UGA is having - especially with multiple players leaving the program and speaking out.

According to all the radio hosts in Atlanta, UGA is going to get Newman from WF and will be in the Playoff next year. Congrats UGA!

I’m talking both past and present. Has any Bama player left and criticized them? In fact, have many Bama players left at all? If Saban was a d bag and players didn’t like him (as appears with Kirby), you’d surely hear about it. Same with Dabo.

And I’m not sold they’ll be ok on OL either. They lose a ton of talent and replace it with inexperienced but highly thought of kids who won’t have an elite OL coach. Matt Luke is pretty good but he’s no Pittman - at least from what I’ve read. I dunno - just don’t think the Kirby thing is going to work out much longer, especially if they keep losing talented players AND generating bad press AND (and this is an if) another East team rises to compete or displace them. Florida looks like a good bet next season but Tennessee with its 4(!!!) 5* OL should be pretty good too.

This really is a big deal, and it should spawn uncomfortable conversations in the football offices.
