Thanks guys. Got a 28 pounder today. Fat sucker! I thought it was going to beat the 41, but nope. I'll post the pic in the fishing thread since we've passed 1 million posts now.

Where you getting them at?

No, it's a huge lake that is part in Virginia and part in North Carolina. I drive 2 hours each way up to Virginia to fish my spot.

That looks awesome...I caught a big flathead in Virginia but those blues are supposed to fight really well too...you using shad?

Nope. Chicken breast + olive oil + garlic powder + strawberry jello. Yep, I know, I know, but it works!

Wait what’s the process? Is it a marinade or mash?

I cut the meat into the size chunks I want to bait with (big pieces this time of year!). Put it all in a ziplock and just work the ingredients around until it appears well mixed up then put it in the fridge to marinate over night. If I have some left, I'll reuse it until the meat gets too soft to keep on the hook, then make some more next time. Don't re-freeze or it'll get too soft in a hurry.

Does it work on channel cats and bullheads as well?

Absolutely. Never caught a flathead though. No surprise there though. But since you can catch bullheads, there's your flathead bait.

I used bluegill with just a tailfin for flatheads...used tin snips to take off the other fins
